I need your technical rep to contact me. I think I found issues with your rexing 1v 4k dashcam. Since I ordered and used many of it and ran cross many issues (and still see it regularly), it will help you to fix your product to make it better.

  6. Linda P. Nall

My second Rexing. Absolutely trouble free with easy setup. Love using the Rexing Connect app with this cam.

  7. Logan

it has held up for 5 weeks of Texas summer so i don’t imagine its going to have any troubles for others

  8. Art von Roemer (verified owner)

This unit replaced a previous one (without wifi) that I loved. It worked flawlessly until it didn’t, the internal battery failed to take a charge and would loose the settings. Rexing worked with me to troubleshoot it, but ultimately it had to be replaced. It was 5 years old, probably started to fail after 4 years.

  9. Rogelio Rodriguez

Quick delivery and exactly as described. Easy to install too.

  10. sharri

I like it! Visually out of the way. Cord long enuf to tuck in. Picture great. Could be made sturdier.

  11. Jorge

I have 2 of these cameras and planning on buying my one for my third vehicle, they have improved the app and the videos download much faster I’m impressed. The picture quality and frame rate is great! You can set it to record on loop every 1 to 3 mins videos.

    I highly recommend!!

  12. robert

Good reliable product. I own 5 of them.

  13. todd w

Great product super easy to use

  14. Tommy

Have bought cheaper dash cams with much regret after they break when the warranty is over. Have not had this one long time, but am impressed with the feel. It is light yet sturdy.

  15. D. Brown

This is replacing a previous dash cam which was physically more like a small digital camera, the entire back was a screen, one of the largest I’ve seen and it was much easier to check the video and settings then this one. But the actual video quality was absolute trash.

The low profile is nice I suppose, and maybe this is my fault, but I placed it as much behind my rearview mirror as possible so it did not obstruct my view, but I did the same thing with my previous dash cam and the way it was designed allowed me to see more of the screen even when it was positioned behind the rearview mirror. Why do I want to look at the screen so much? A big reason is because I would notice that it wasn’t ON sometimes. So now I have to check it each time I get in the car to make sure it’s working this time. If not I usually have to unplug and plug back in, a simple power button press doesn’t do it. Also, the angle of the screen points a little too far down and viewing from that angle makes the image almost look inverted in color. You really have to look straight on so I have to lean down pretty far.

I have also been having a problem with the date and time. It’s been resetting on me. Some days the clock remains set, other days not. After several tests and restarts and following online instructions, I still did not have luck for several days but recently, starting a couple days ago, the clock has been stable. I’ve left the dash cam plugged into the cigarette lighter port overnight and also had it unplugged from the port overnight and the date and time stayed set. I’m not sure which fix worked because I tried a bunch of stuff that did not work.

There’s also a little wobble between the camera and the sticky mount. At least it doesn’t seem to show much shaking in the recordings. But I’m not sure why the connection isn’t completely securely tight. The most annoying thing about it being a little loose is it constantly moving around as I’m pressing buttons, because the buttons are on the sides and the thing wiggles side to side.

The video quality is pretty good. I don’t understand why there aren’t any Dash cams that have iPhone quality video. Why can our phones shoot better video than a dedicated camera? At least the 4K actually appears to be 4K. While I loved much of the form factor of my previous camera, the “4K“ was a bit of a lie. It was 4000 pixels (I checked by importing the footage to my computer and looking at the info) but it’s somehow still a very low resolution image like they have blown up a 720p image into a 4K size. That does not appear to be the case with the Rexing. The 4K looks like 4K. Not the best looking 4K, again my phone shoots clearer, less grainy/noisy 4K but it still looks like true 4K.

The microphone of course isn’t studio quality, and yes it sounds worse than the microphone on my phone but it is still clear enough that you won’t have issue understanding what you’re listening to. It’s just not the most beautiful sound quality, but at least it’s totally understandable.

A big stand out feature for me is the ability to connect your dash cam to your phone. You do not actually need a Wi-Fi connection to yours or anyone else’s router. It uses your phone Wi-Fi like a Bluetooth connection. The Wi-Fi connection is not dependent on having an actual Internet connection. So long as your phone and dash cam are close enough to each other, even if you are in the middle of nowhere in a dead zone, you will be able to transfer footage from the camera to the phone. The app on my iPhone was rated poorly on the App Store but I have not had a problem with it. it is not the most modern looking app, for sure. Sometimes I think it looks like a better app, still in the works on how it will be designed. But it still functions. I’m able to tap on “videos“ see my videos, in order with the 24 hour clock timestamp on each and they transfer into my camera roll (not as fast as I’d like but at least they transfer).

Bottom line: I am iffy on the form factor because it’s hard to see the screen and it wobbles a little with buttons on the side that wobble it more when pressed, and I had problems with it resetting or not turning on but recently that seems to have been fixed (fingers crossed). But it is good that it’s out of my way so I can safely say out my windshield, and the recordings, while not iPhone quality, are far superior to my previous Dash Cam, and the microphone is audible enough that you can understand everything.

I got this camera to have just in case I’m ever in an accident I’ll have video proof of what happened. It seems to work just fine and is holding up well in Arizona heat. Only thing I don’t like is I have outlets in my car that are always on, even when the car is off, so I have to remember to manually turn the camera on and off every time I go to drive. I know that’s not a fault of the camera but it’s something to consider. The app has terrible reviews but I have found that it does everything it needs to – I can see and save my videos from the dash cam and that’s all I need to be able to do!

  17. Doug Hall

Never really sure if product is real or a Chinese knock off. This was the real deal , easy to set up. Had it working in 5 minutes easily .

  18. kkitzhaber

This Rexing V1-4k is replacing my 4-year old Acekool 4k dashcam. It seems that these two cameras are using the same software and very similar optical sensor. The quality is good enough to read license plates during the day. They are both grainy at night. Compared to my Samsung Galaxy 10 or 20 Ultra, the quality is inferior. That’s to be expected. Regardless, when it comes to solid evidence of an accident, this unit will work nicely. FYI: Facing the rear, I have an older 1080p dashcam, independent from the front camera. The two cameras were very useful when someone called 911 to report me for driving dangerously. I offered the police my dashcam footage. They declined. Four years ago, I recorded a high speed collision with a big buck. Video was from an older dashcam. It vividly documents how fast a collision can happen. When I was living in Bolivia, I was able to video record THREE collisions while driving. Fortunately, only one required a body shop. The other two were just scrapes, one with a woman who thought it wise to park in the roundabout and then hit me in the rear quarter panel as I went around her… another one, a guy on a motorcycle with 3 kids changed lanes into my lane at 15 MPH. I was going about 18-20. He bounced off, but didn’t fall over. Appeared to be no injuries and just a minor scrape on the paint. SO, GET A DASHCAM. You never know…

  19. JH

Thankfully I have never gotten into an accident but one can never be too sure because anything can happen. This is the reason I purchased this dash cam and it didn’t disappoint. Easy to install and navigate through the features. A peace of mind driving knowing that if needed the dash cam is there recording in the event that I do need it for insurance purposes.

  20. Kyle

Looking for something for my jeep gladiator and after reading reviews, I picked this one and glad I did. Easy to adjust camera/ lense for placement on windshield. While off reading, he stays tight and has fallen yet.

  21. Fredrique

One of the best dash cams I’ve used. Easy to install and I love the wifi feature where I can download the recording anytime and anywhere.

  22. colin robinson

So far, so good!!! Nice value.
Recommend stronger adhesive to route the power cables!

  23. Kurt A

I got this to replace an old suction-mount dash-cam and was very happy it used the same mini-USB plug for power. Easy setup; lots of resolution options; lots of ways to set it up. I haven’t tried the Wifi mode but that will be a nice feature. When connected to a computer acts as a storage device so I don’t need an adapter for the SD card. Slim design makes it basically hidden behind my rear-view mirror and almost unnoticeable from the outside.

  24. Sgt Hoot

The mounting for this camera is the best since it does not move around or require continual adjustment. The setup for a new unit is simple, quick, and easily accomplished in just a few minutes. The 4K picture quality seems to show much better detail than others of similar quality. All in all, I am expecting this camera to be in service for several years. I would rank it the best of all three I have owned in the past, by far.

  25. Courtney

this is a great product, worth every penny. I would definitely invest in the hardwire kit and put it in. I forgot to add in the back facing camera, will be my next purchase.

  26. Lissette Karmody

Install was super easy and straight forward, the only thing that took a bit of time was running the power wire in a way that doesn’t disrupt the flow of the car but it’s working amazingly never fails to power on when the car starts powers of when I turn the car off. Only complaint is that the app is a difficult to connect to, I’ve tried a couple times and it’s never easy I got this model because i wanted to be able to view what I recorded easy from my phone maybe some update in the future will make this easier? Apart from that a solid camera would still recommend to someone who’s is just looking for a device to monitor the road.

  27. Fredboat

I have had other brands and this dashcam is easy to setup and use. Worth every dime. I had a road rage event today and the video was Very useful.

  28. Bigdaddy

These are very good cameras and do as they should, now of course if there werent so many moron drivers I wouldnt need it but thats another story.

  29. Jeff

I have 2 or 3 of these. They’re easy to set up and use. I recommend getting a high quality memory card.

  30. JL in Virginia

I bought this camera as a replacement, and was I ever surprised. The picture quality and sharpness are incredible. Setup was easy with the provided directions. I highly recommend the Rexing V1 – 4K Ultra HD Car Dash Cam.

  31. Alejandro

This is the best camera that I have ever had gravel of the best and I installed it directly to my car and it is always recording I am an Uber driver and I need a camera for my car and this is epertacular I recommend it

  32. Phillip M

The adhesive mount was easy to install and has stayed in place during cold and high temperatures. The wire is long enough to work through my dash and keep it out of sight. The quality of the film is good and I can easily read details and save the files if needed. It also shuts off when I turn of the car and vice versa, which is a plus.

  33. Walter Morales

I have yet to try it at night so I can’t comment on that, but the camera was easily installed and working perfectly. I was surprised on how easy it went.

  34. Loss S.

We have them in both of our company vehicles and they work great without issue and it’s very easy to get the data off the microSD card into a PC or thumb drive!

  35. Tim Brown

I had trouble with my first one, the company stepped up, and sent a replacement. this one works great! Its nice to see a company that cares, and makes a nice product. I recommend these guys ,and this cam.

  36. Atanasio Grias

Update….. rexing care team took care of the camera issue right away and sent me a working camera in two days. Fantastic customer service. Will be buy more in the future

  37. Smiley

Great cam, great resolution and functionalities however I need a camera that will support front and rear recordings. Unfortunately it won’t work for me

  38. AJ

Not bad for the price, simple to use

  39. cpuapprentice

Great product Manuel could have been a little more detail, but I figured out some the features, and support contact it great

  40. Aries

My dad love this, makes him wanna buy more

  41. Roger B.

The recorded video quality is great! At 4K, it’s what you would expect. Installation was simple. It’s nice and small and fits behind my rear view mirror. I wound the cord to my accessory outlet in the center console of my Acura RDX without too much difficulty. I found the cord to be just the right length.

The only gripe I have is that once in a while I find that it resets itself back to factory defaults. I’m not really sure what causes it. But I don’t change many of the default settings besides the date. So while it’s annoying, I can live with it.

  42. Amazon Customer

Just got done installing this in my 2020 civic. One of those items you purchase in the hopes that you never have to use it. Pulled up the night video and it is clear. Haven’t used it in the daytime yet.

  43. Khaled Richard

So, this is actually a product update. Despite my dissatisfaction with Amazon support, Rexing team reach out to me to solve the problem that is technically is not related to them!!!!! That in it self above and beyond..

    Anyways,

    Pros,
    4k quality!
You can view the clips on the dashcam
Or on your phone via the Rexing App
    Best support team from Rexing.

    Cons
You need an extra caple and the know how to install the parking mode, but almost all of them require the same.

    Rear view camera optional.

  44. Lisa B

Great little camera for doing what needs to be done… catching the action when needed. Great video replay, zooms in with good quality, clear sound if needed. Have one in each vehicle.

  45. Paul Daloia

After getting it installed, and giving it a test run around town the video quality was amazing. However after removing the SD card to transfer the videos to my PC it would not lock back into the unit. I have returned the camera, and will be ordering a repalcement as soon as the refund hits. Hopefully it was just a one off.

As for the phone app, and WiFi connection, it was clunky, and just more work than I was willing to put into it. To connect you need to disable your phone data, and connect to the WiFi, if you have your data plan connected it will not connect correctly. Add to that, if you are connected through the WiFi, your only option is to record on your phone, and not on the device itself. As soon as you connect to it, the display on the camera just flashes an option to disconnect, and you cannot navigate from that screen.

After the replacement arrives, and I get a chance to work with it longer than 4 hrs, I will update this review.

Update: Replacement arrived, so far so good on everything. Though a little irritated on the hardwire kit, which doesn’t seem to work, but that is a review all on its own. Changing the rating to 4 stars.

  46. Jlynn Batts

I bought a dash cam to capture events such as accidents. I want verifiable proof whom is at fault.

  47. A. Ellis

I’ve only had the camera for a few days and I can’t complain. The picture quality is great. I haven’t had any experience with the night vision yet The installation wasn’t hard. Navigating the camera menu took a minute for me to figure out, but it’s easy once I figured it out.

  48. Samia & Bruno

It’s easy to install and to use.
I’ve been using this camera for around 2 months and it’s been working well. I like that you can switch the sound recording on/off with the press of a button.
For me, it wasn’t so intuitive to learn how to playback videos, and the user’s manual could be improved to explain it better.

  49. priscilla

This is a great Dash Camera Can’t beat the price or quality easy to use easy installation This was a gift and I couldn’t be happier with this choice sleek and out of the way Always ready because you never know when may you just very well need proof

  50. Fred Pena

I needed to add a reliable and easy to use dashcam, that would be easy to install. The instruction booklet is vague, so I ended up using YouTube and found plenty of information on setting up and use. I have issues with the app, but the camera works as intended and captures images at high quality.

  51. venki

Dash cam profile is so small and perfectly hides behind the dash mirror. Video quality is good and comes up with a kit to hide the wires.

  52. FS

As a new driver, I have used this dashcam for two months. I don’t need any fancy features like parking mode or frequent video exports, so I think this dashcam is reliable in general.

The video/picture quality is great. Videos recorded are also clear in night vision. The dashcam also captures audio. The audio quality is merely adequate with some beeps, but I think it’s ok for a dashcam since I don’t use it to record carpool karaoke shows.

As some reviewers pointed out, the connection needs improvement, but there are alternative solutions. I failed to connect my dashcam to my computer; the dashcam kept restarting all the time and it seemed like my computer’s USB port is not powerful enough to charge it. I don’t encounter this issue if I use the cigarette lighter in my car. I haven’t used the wifi connection function as there’s no reception in my garage. When I need to access the videos, I just simply read the microSD.

In conclusion, I still give a 5-star overall rating to this dashcam.

  53. Kevin Dancause

Works great and has already paid for itself 3 times with video and audio proof.

  54. msyed500

This is an affordable dash cam with a good set of features. The design and build is great also, compared to its competitors.

  55. Man from Monroe

The picture quality is very good. I was little disappointed in how long it takes to download via Wi-Fi so I will be taking the SD card out to off load any video. It is light weight so the adhesive mount should last. I had to set the screen saver to a short time so that it would not reset do to low power while it is recording.

  56. Nirvana

update. Customer service reached out and helped me of the issue. It is all good now.

Ok. Bought 2 different dashcams for 2 of my cars. Similar price range and similar size. I ended up installing the other one to our Minivan which is wife’s daily for hauling the kids, due to the fact that I think the other one is more reliable.

    For this one, Pros:
    1. Compact in size.
    2. Easy to use and setup. Pic quality is great so far.
    3. Manual and package is better than the other one.

    Cons:
    1. It was constantly shut off and turned on initially. A quick google search directed me to format the minisd(which I did the first time inserting the card). Did it again and fixed the issue.
    2. Can’t get the live view on the app to work.
    3. Can’t use any functions in recording mode. Took me a while to figure out – you need to stop the recording to get access to menu and basically al other functions.
    4. Can’t keep my settings like dates, sensitivity etc to saved. It will roll back to 1/1/2021 each time it’s rebooted and will go back to normal after connecting to wifi and app – huge disappointment since I have to use my phones wifi to connect to the wireless carplay each time I drive the car so I can’t connect the dashcam every time I drive, and it is not like I can connect with one click – will need to hit the stop recording button, hit menu then find wifi settings then turn the wifi on.
    5. I cannot find a software update option anywhere.

To sum up, this one worked out as a compact, low profile dashcam, but the software and option design suck big time. Not user friendly. Solid option if you just out it there and knowing you’re covered in case of accident. Not so much if you want to play with it and check on it all the time.

  57. Aidan Dorner

I just bought this dashcam recently and it is one of the highest quality and most inconspicuous dashcams out there.

  58. nyjeeee

Bought these back in 2016 and had it hardwire on my Mazda 3 then my 10th Gen Civic and now my 5th Gen 4runner. The first hardwire kit also crapped out but it was not a Rexing one so I bought one from Rexing back in 2019 and it worked since until about 2wk ago. The camera had trouble every time the car turns on, it was looking for the SD card. I took the card out and placed back in and it would work intermittently until it did not. I wanted to avoid getting a new unit but figure it probably was time. I got new SD card first to help trouble shoot and of course that did not work. I thought about switching to other brand but none had the reviews this one did. So I bought it again, switched out just the camera and now it’s working just fine. I’d still recommend it just for the price point and with the expectation that it’s likely going to fail after about 5y or so.

  59. Luadrian

I installed the camera today. I cannot be happier with the purchase. I installed it myself with the Rexing wiring for parking. The video quality is excellent. I saw various reviews of other cameras but this is the best for price and quality!

  60. Ivan Arellano-Mondragon

nice mounting and i purchased the hardwired kit, that way its always recording when needed, easy to use app and live view.

  61. Steve Masci

Great Camera !! Works really well with the Rexing App. I’m able to download videos straight to my phone or computer for review. Easy to install.

  62. Ryan Rapini

Feels like a great quality dashcam, installation was a breeze.

  63. Hilton

Two weeks after I installed this dashcam, we were in a car accident and the car was totaled. The person made an unprotected left turn and hit us. They claimed they had the right of way. Fortunately the dash cam showed that we had the green light and the clear right of way. We sent the video footage to the police and our insurance company, and it was very easy for them to assign fault to the other driver. This dash cam is a must have! It saved us so much time (and probably money) dealing with the insurance companies.

The video quality, field of view, and audio quality are all very good. The mounting system also works well, and it allowed us to easily remove the camera from the car after the wreck. Also, during the collision the camera stayed in place, showing the aftermath of the wreck. The footage was easy get off the camera. I plugged it in via USB and was able to drag and drop the .mp4 file onto my computer. Very easy, and I didn’t have to mess with any proprietary software or file formats. It’s all very accessible.

    Definitely would recommend this camera.

  64. Dave @ Laurel Canyon

This is our first such camera but the V1 was suggested by a family member who only buys this brand. It was easy to install and the camera set up was easy too. We bought a kit to wire into the car electrical system. I only wish the cord was a bit longer.

  65. Times Chang”e”

Had an issue with the original unit, but customer service was quick to fix it. I am giving this five stars now because they were proactive in addressing the issue instead of just letting a customer be unsatisfied. Easy set up and appreciate the long cable so that I could run across my windshield to under my mats so I don’t have an ugly cable dangling in front of me any more like my previous dash cam. Thanks for showing customers you care.

  66. WTX

The V1 4k dash am came with everything needed for a quick install using a cigarette lighter. If you want to hard wire it, you will need to purchase a separate kit. Also, there is no way for Rexing to know your fuse type so prepare to buy a third adapter kit if you don’t match up with the Rexing default. Prices are minimal for the 3rd kit (sub $10).
The camera is new and I haven’t had time to review the footage yet,
One thing to note is that for Wi-Fi connection, don’t be fooled that what is printed is the correct way to access the Wi-Fi camera capabilities. I had to search for the correct Wi-Fi button because Rexing changes it per version and model. Once I found it, the app and Wi-Fi worked as expected.
Here’s to hoping I never have to pull footage from the camera!
    Cheers!

  67. Amazon Customer

I like the size of the camera. It fits nicely in front of the mirror and out if my line of sight. Easy to program and set up. Nice design.

  68. Maple88

My wife and I ordered 2 of the V1-4K dash cams for our cars.
I bought these based on a friend’s recommendation and because it is an “Amazon Choice”.
The camera is a little smaller than a computer mouse and does not weigh much. This is good if you mount it to your windshield. The hot sun should not cause it to fall off. Just to make sure, I placed the mount onto my windshield and waited a few days for the adhesive to really adhere to the glass before mounting the camera.
The image quality is very good and clear. I can clearly read the license of cars in front. I have checked the videos after taking my car in for repairs just to see what they do.
There are many more features and settings this little camera can do.

  69. JC

I got this as a Christmas gift for my new truck and so far really like it. I installed it with the optional hardwire kit so there are no hanging wires, and it goes on and off with the ignition. Set up was easy and quality seems very good. I’ll be putting one it the kids car soon.

  70. Steven Brown

    Easy set up and installation.
Wish I had a bigger SD card on hand (ordered now), I am considering buying the hardwire kit next.
I also wish that the rear camera cable was 3 feet longer, then I could have run it all the way to the back of the truck (F150 S-crew cab w/ 6.5 bed) and mounted it on the canopy window instead of the rear cab window. Now I can get pictures of all of the junk in my bed 🙂
So far though, everything else works fine. A few commented on the app not synching, I did not run into this problem.
Cables tucked in neatly and after formatting the card everything fired up on its own properly right out of the box!

  72. JTA

my only dislike was trying to figure out the proper micro card to buy. I went with the 256.

  73. Lauren Murphey

Picture quality was good make sure you order a micro SD memory card for it. Easy to install

  74. Diane

I bought this dashcam because based on my research, this is among the best ones out there.

The installation is quite easy too. You need to buy your own SD card. There’s also a feature to access the videos through phone. I wasn’t able to try that feature though.

The camera is clear. However, I discovered that it does not record in one whole chunk, instead the videos are divided into 1 to about 2 minutes. That made it quite tricky to transfer to my laptop. Maybe there’s a setting that I overlooked.

Overall, I’m satisfied and would recommend it. I just have to return it because I got a front and rear dashcam gift on Christmas. If I didn’t, I would have definitely kept this one.

  75. 2 Buck Chuck

Great camera for the money! 4K camera and a very discreet size!

  76. Lindsey

So far so good. It was easy to install. The directions aren’t in perfect english and it isn’t completely intuitive, but when I turn the car on, it starts up and does what it should. I wish Rexing offered a front and rear camera package at a resonable price. I haven’t had a chance to hook it up to my computer. The display on the camera is pretty small and not totally clear unless I’m staring at it straight on. I’ll update my review if anything changes.

  77. Fbay10000

Awesome video recording quality and easy setup.

  78. Workout guy

I did a lot of research into dash cams in this price point. To me, this one had the most features, along with a great picture. Install and setup was easy and pain free. Very happy with this product.

  79. antonio flores

Cámara has good quality image even at night.

  80. Jack R. Zeiger

I used the smart hardware kit which made the install look very neat. Would highly recommend using it. Not hard to do even for a 73 year old.

  81. JMB

*** Edit*** I’m changing my review to 5 stars from the original 3 stars. The manufacturer reached out to me after seeing my review. They made things right to me by offering me a replacement or refund. My choice.

I’ve been meaning for a while to check to make sure that this still worked. It still made the powering on noise, but because it’s a camera and its in the sun I figured maybe check it out. Mind you, the car is garaged, so it’s not in the sun all day, everyday. Besides, I feel this is something that should be checked out to make sure its working.

I just checked out the video recordings, to make sure it was good and didn’t have to replace it. The last recording was done almost 3 years to the day and then it stopped working. I’m not sure if you say, well it lasted 3 years so its good, or it only lasted 3 years?!!?

I’m in the it only lasted 3 years!!! group myself.

2 stars overall because it stopped working after 3 years.

1 star for camera quality, again because it just stopped recording.

2 stars for the video quality because it isn’t great, its not bad, but compared to what’s out there today, its not that good.

2 stars for night vision, same reason as the picture quality. It’s passable, but not great.

I would pass on this myself because it died after 3 years and the picture quality isn’t great. But that’s me. If you think 3 years is good, then you go for yours I guess. To each their own.

  82. Kevin R.

Found the instructions to very brief but adequate. Unit installed, formatted, recorded as advertised. The screen is a little sensitive to viewing angles, but that was no surprise at this price point. Quite happy with my purchase. We will have to wait and see how it stands up to Nebraska’s summer heat.

  83. Knight

I am pleased with the product so far, looks great and seems to be built well. Instructions for installation are intuitive and easy to follow. I wish I knew, it doesn’t come with a MicroSD card, I just assumed it to be part of the camera. The video quality is good, night vision is okay. I was expecting a better resolution but it captures the details close to the car, which does the job.

  84. John H

    Takes amazing video

  85. Phillip White

User is provided with a complete users manual. Easily installed and a very nice display.

  86. Steelhorse

I have had several dashcams and the Rexing is by far the Best. It’s Unique design allows for easy access to the controls and the size of the screen simplifies viewing. The picture is crystal clear and several options provided allow for reviewing recordings, fast forward, rewind on the camera, or you can connect via the Texting app available from the app store. Mounting the camera is a snap with a 3M tape on bracket and adjusting the lens up and down is as simple as turning an adjustment knob. Very nice unit

Value for money product. Easy to install, issues with built-in wifi and mobile app.

This is the third one we’ve purchased. They work well, although when it’s cold the one in the truck sitting outside will shutdown

  90. TJM

I have a Rexing V1LG installed in my wifes car and have been more than satisfied, so I recently purchased three V1P 4K Dash cameras as Christmas presents for my two Children and myself. Merry Christmas to All. Also when submitting my review I noticed the Rexing V1P 4K Dash Camera was not listed, so I submitted my review on the Rexing V1 4K.

  91. SunFun48

The product arrived in 1 day. Perfect condition. I had watched several utube videos on the installation so it took me under 15 minutes to find a location on the windshield and installed everything even hid the wires under the trim. I have the charger in the center console now. I will order the hard wire kit next week. Haven’t driven yet but will update later. The wifi hook up was a bit tricky. After 2 days on the road it works great in day & night.

  92. Rhea

ive used this camera on another car a few times to help people who were involved in accidents. Luckily, we havent had an accident in our own car, but if we do, itll be useful to show who is at fault.

  93. Panagiotis

Rexing is one of the best dash cam in the market, very good quality ,three way view and the night time recording is very clear even when is raining, also if you want even more storage you have to use 128mb SD card. Customer service is excellent and they are respond to your questions really quick.

  94. Jennifer

Nice quality, small. But has lots of cables

  95. Powderkeg

Great video quality. Good documentation in Quick Start Guide. GPS cold start-up to get a position fix is around 60 seconds. GPS lat/lon is correct. GPS speed is +/- 1 mph as compared to a Garmin GLO and iPhone speed app. This replaces another dash cam that had GPS issues such as looooooog start up.

  96. Born2BeMild

Rexing V1-4K I like the 170 degree angle that captures a good portion of side events. I like how the Rexing cam is unobtrusive even when it has to be place in a visible location on the windshield. Just works every time. Easy to remove or handle, no extra buttons or menus just the basics of what it needs to be efficient. Like how it runs for a few seconds after the car is shut off. Great if there is an accident and power is cut. I have wired the unit into the ignition switch so not always on. This is my second camera the first one (Basic V1 ) gets moved into my older car for a second life. One thing of interest with the older unit is that I have to format the card once in a while or it won’t record properly. I suspect all the cams are the same as the memory has to be cleaned up after while.

  97. Jeff B

had a problem but company good to work with took care of problem thanks

  98. Amazon Customer

Great Customer Service and follow-up (Brandon Cui) even after 2 years. Rexing V1-Basic works well day and night. Audio is very clear. I didn’t check the SD card until recently when I ordered my second Rexing V1-Basic and the footage was very clear. It works quietly in the background without any distractions. You wouldn’t know it was working unless you took the SD card out and played the video on your PC. I’ve used a Sandisk 128G MicroSD card without any issues for 2 years. Great value for your money!

  99. L. Hughes

I like the size and the ease of use.

  100. Cassandra Sherlock

    Easy set up..great picture.

  101. Arizona Doug

The Rexing H2 Trail cam has a great app that lets you connect using WiFi and see the photos taken on your iPhone and other devices. The images are super clear on both day and night captures. The trigger is super fast at night when many other game cameras are too slow. I have even caught game images 50 to 60 feet away. The videos are fantastic also.

  102. wei zhang

I bought this Rexing V1 dash camera on Amazon warehouse deal, $10 dollars cheaper than the regular one with only some minor damage on the package but brand new dash camera inside. I can tell from the memont to open the box that the camera quality is very well made. Put it on right away in my SUV, the installation was very easy. Had this new stuff working a whole day, both for daylight and night, the picture quality is second to none and with its built-in wifi function I can easily check everything in my cellphone. All in all, I am very pleased with the purchase and thank you Rexing!

  103. Seannitta Hill

    Camera quality is great.
    Easy to install

  104. Jim O.

I recently purchased this dash cam direct from Rexing. It arrived in only a day or 2. The packaging is excellent on par with Apple devices. The device itself seems to be well made, is very light weight and sturdy. The instructions were very clearly written and to the point. I opted to get the hardwire kit to hardwire it into my F150. Installation was simple. The only issue I had was deciding where to mount it. I actually dont like where I initially mounted it so I need to move it. Fortunately Rexing was thinking ahead and included 2 mounting clips and adhesives in the box so it could be used in 2 vehicles. I will use the second one to mount in a better place and remove the other one. Thank you Rexing for being thoughtful and adding an extra set to your package. I know those 2 pieces do not cost much and add value to the kit.

Picture quality is great. Videos I have made so far are crystal clear and of sufficient resolution that you can see all the detail you need from this device.

Overall I think this is the best entry level Dash cam you can get.

  105. Kirk D.

First turned on dash cam was in Pakistani language. Took for ever to find English. Then it took over 100 tries to get it to connect to WiFi. I almost sent it back. I hope I don’t regret not sending it back. Dash cam indicated it was connected but app said to connect. Like it was frozen. Even online support said you may have to try many times to connect. Should not be that difficult. The other thing that is strange ,I went to check the recordings and once it was connected, which again took many tries, it would not disconnect unless I removed power. Not a very unit to use. Not sure if I would recommend it.

  106. Vincent

Great product. Amazing quality even on 1080P. Would recommend it to others.

  107. Richard Muga

The mounting bracket glued to the windshield is a great selling point
It secures the cam firmly as opposed to a suction mount which slips off frequently. Being able to immediately review video is great and very convenient. Picture quality is great. All around the V1 4k out beats my previous dash cam by far. Worth every bit of the price.

  108. R Johnson

Customer service was very responsive for the issue I had after 18 months of use on one of the three units I purchased . I would definitely buy a Rexing product again.

  109. Dave

Large 170 degree field of view and extremely sharp picture. A good deal!

  110. Darrin Baxley

I’ve used these for years. Was in an accident that was the other person’s fault. They were lying about the whole thing. The officer watched the video and wrote them 2 tickets. Wreckers engagement and lying to an officer. The insurance company had no dispute after seeing the video.

  111. Amazon Customer

Good quality and amazing price! Highly recommended!

  112. Xaviera Osborne

I actually bought the S1 body camera and the quality on then camera was good the main issue we had was the size and the weight… but the device performed well…the quality, night vision, and picture quality was excellent! They also have a very responsive customer service team that is willing to work with you through any issues you may have!

  113. Marc Carrazana

Dash cam works really well and easy installation, the only thing I would say they needed to work on is adding in more cable clips but other than that it’s a fantastic product!

  114. RickyC

Good dash cam for the price.

  115. HB

I just got this and have not had a chance to install it but it seems like a great well made dash cam, I’ll be recommending it to my friends.

  116. ikelced

Been use it for one and half year. It still works well. The only problem is the WiFi function never works. High quality picture. No more words to say, just take look at the video.

  117. JeChuMo

Great 4k dash cam for the price. Video quality is amazing. The video from the dash camera, almost compares to the video from a sony 4k camera I own. Very easy setup, and I like the length of the power cable, which allows to hide it under the car’s plastic interior. This is my first dash cam, and I am impressed by the coverage of the 170 degree camera. I am planning in buying a second dash camera, and will highly recommend it to my friends and family.

  118. kirsten kuhar

Great buy for cautious drivers. I like the installation kit and how it setups up discreetly near the rear view mirror. Only thing I wish it came with is the micro USB memory card.

  119. ana m cortez

My dash came came in very fast. And was super easy to install love it would buy again. Just wished it didn’t turn off when I turn car off.

  120. md

    Great camera, fantastic angle

  121. Hemant

I am using this camera for my Vw Passat, its really easy to install and operate the camera . the video quality is good and also supports various qualities . I like the built quality of the product and overall features that it offers.

  122. Erick Diaz

The video quality is fantastic. I like how you can set it to go into screen saver mode after 15 seconds of it turning on – it helps especially at night.

  123. Luis Menjivar

    great item great dash cam
    Video quality is great

  124. Elizabeth N.

I can’t say enough about this camera. I’ve now purchased four of them and these are my go-to recommendations to friends and family. The most recently bought one is the Wi-Fi one. The video quality on all four cameras is wonderful and the interface is easy to use. There are clear instructions for the interface. I love that turning the Mic on/off is one little button. Install is super easy and the cabling is totally long enough to tuck around and make look nice. I wish I had had this camera when some idiot hit me a couple years ago and played victim, it would have completely changed the outcome of the insurance claim.

  125. olivia dutton

very clear photo and video quality, sturdy fit inside windshield, and it makes pleasant sounds upon starting up and turning off the car.

  126. timchi1956

Easy setup, easy to use. Excellent image quality. I was impressed with the small picture when played back on the device, but when played back on the computer, wow! I heard about more than a few cases in my area that people stop at a red light or stop sign then back into the person behind them. They claim neck, back, and shoulder injuries. Yes, it is a scam, this camera is my defense against the extortion! I hope it will also serve as a ticket to jail for the charlatans and will help expose and end the hoax! Best of all, I have peace of mind with the camera backing me up!

  127. D’Ontre Hudson

This is THE dash cam to own. I drive for a living and this dash cam is an essential piece of equiment for my job. Wide view, clear picture, easy to use. The app is incredibly straight forward as well. This is the dash cam I recommend to my co-workers, and Rexing is a brand I will stand by going forward.

  128. xiaojun c.

Good quality with right prize.worth every $.

  129. Jose Montes Jr

Good quality and value for the price. Relatively easy to set up and wire. I have a C7 Corvette and was able to hide about 90% of the wiring; the exposed wire somewhat blends in to the dash since it’s just around the B pillar. The camera itself has many options to fit to your preferences and picture quality is pretty clear on screen. This is the first dash cam I’ve ever purchased since this is my dream car so hopefully it doesn’t fail.

  130. Pauline L.

I drive over 40 miles one way to get to work and there is an area of road where it is really sketchy to drive where a side road to a small town connects to a highway where the speed limit is 60 mph. There is no caution light and traffic from the side road has to cross a divided highway with limited visibility. I’ve had many near misses there, all of which would involve my car at 60 meeting another car that’s stopped or less than 20. I purchased this camera to protect myself with an impartial witness in the event of an accident and it does what it is designed to do.

  131. Z. Liu

The camera kit is with great quality and functionality.

I bought 1st one in 2017 and 3 years later, I bought another one for a different car. It speaks something

  132. Norge

Excellent product and great service, the quality lives up to the price and the quality of the product

  133. Rob Mcfish

Very happy with this camera. Easy to install and it looks like a professional did it. I like the fact it uses a 12 volt accessory plug in as this really makes the installation simple. The camera works well in low light conditions and has a great field of view. The wifi connectivity is also a bonus. So far very pleased with this purchase.

  134. Luis barron

Great camera for the price, only draw back is the adapter uses up the whole cigarette lighter and doesn’t give a usb to plug in, so instead i bought another charger with a 90 degree angle on the connection to the camera and bought an adapter which gives 4 usb connects from the cigarette lighter

  135. HEM

Initially, I purchased a Rexing V1-4K and received their standard Rexing V1 (1080p max). I do not believe this was Rexing’s fault, rather a mix-up at Amazon. A support chat later, I was sent the correct item and given a return label for the incorrect item I had received.

The V1-4K is a perfectly adequate dashcam for those who are looking for a simple, effective solution to their dashcam needs. First, let’s talk hardware quality. The unit itself is fairly large — much larger than other dashcams I have owned in the past. By a long shot. The shape, however, is well thought out. The unit neatly hugs the curvature of a windshield and can be tucked behind a rear view mirror to essentially be “out of site, out of mind”. The plastic is HARD. That may be by design (for extreme temperature resistance, perhaps?) but again, it feels much harder than previous dashcams I’ve used in the past.
Like the hardest of ABS plastics. The tactile feel of the buttons elicits a late ’90s Kia in terms of build quality. These buttons take a fair bit of effort to depress, and when they do, it is with a resounding CLICK, akin to the noise a dog training clicker emits. To be honest, I’m not thrilled with the “hand feel” of this camera.

Now let’s talk software. The user interface is no better and no worse than previous dashcams I’ve owned. All dashcams I’ve used have a user interface similar to a Virgin Mobile flip phone from my grade school era. I don’t know who is in charge of user interfaces on these dashcams, but the first to offer a smooth, clear, and fast user interface will have a license to print money. So yeah, it is basic, but it get’s the job done — same as every other dashcam. One huge omission on this camera is the lack of GPS built into the device. Yes, you can easily buy an add-on from Rexing to remedy this, but why not just include it? Plenty of cameras in this pricepoint offer GPS out-of-the-box — and in a smaller hardware package. In this case, lured in by the 4K resolution, I forewent GPS for picture quality. To some people GPS is a deal-breaker. It is not an incredibly important feature to me, so you will have to make that decision. Lastly, the Rexing app that is available responds pretty quickly and allows you to set some (not all) features that you would have to otherwise click-clack your way through via the hardware’s buttons. This is nice, but why not allow access to all features via the app? Great idea, with poor execution. Also, your phone connects to the camera via a wi-fi connection. I had a different camera that connected via wi-fi as well — what a pain! I’m not an IT guy, so maybe there is a reason that wi-fi is the preferred connection method here. As a normal consumer, I’m thinking “Why not bluetooth?”

Picture quality is better than your average dashcam — as it should be. I don’t necessarily feel like it films in the same quality of 4K as, say, the Planet Earth series was, but again, for ~$100, quality is good. At some point I will try to upload some footage, but I’m sure other reviews have done that already.

All in all, for the pricepoint, this is a good option. I still think GPS should be a built-in feature for a camera in this price range. I wish Rexing would use higher quality feeling materials with buttons that don’t wake the dead when pressed. If you can live with ABS plastic and no GPS, this 4K camera may be a good option for you.

  136. ET

What a great awesome camera! Love the build quality and it has all the features that I need with such an affordable price, I recommend this than any other dash cam

  137. LN

I was surprised to find how well built the camera and the wires it came with were and the installation was so easy. It does its job and does it well! The app is a little finicky, but I’m satisfied with the camera.

  138. Anamaria orhei

This camera is great you can not really see it but the quality of the video is amazing and they also have an app and also nice support

  139. Amazon Customer

This is a must have for the day and age we live in. Great product. Easy to install.

  140. Johnny Keo

Video is very clear and wifi is easy to setup and connect to my phone. Comes with trim prying tool as well.

  141. Richard A.

This is the second Rexing dashcam I’ve purchased. Just got it installed and it works great. It takes awhile to learn what the several buttons do with the multi-functions. Tomorrow I’ll set up the wi-fi with the phone. I have made the connection, so tomorrow I’ll download some driving.

  142. Bradley Jones

Awesome dash cam, easy setup and use. Bought this particular version so I could use the wifi and download the videos to my phone in case of an incident. Works perfect. The app for the videos is a little shaky but it works. Great picture quality and very easy to navigate all the features of the camera. With a plethora of mounting options this camera is sure to fit your needs. Highly recommend.

  143. R. Rasing

110% happy with this camera. Easy to setup, turn on, and retrieve video for review & downloading. It has survived car temperatures well over 100 deg F and about 30 deg F as well as multiple drops to the car floor (just use pro quality double sided tape).

In fact, it recently paid for itself by fully documenting a side collision while I was making a right turn!

  144. Mega Cab

I have now installed 3 rexing dash cams. For the price point and features have been very satisfied. The first 2 were the V1LG because it’s full of features but this time decided to go with the V1 gen 3 and test out the higher resolution camera. Thus far it has not disappointed what I like the most so far is it is more compact making the install more discreet.

The only draw back is no rear camera but for this install it’s ok because it went into a long bed heavy duty with a camper shell on top so running a rear cam would have been a big job, with the higher resolution cam available now I may get another one and install it in the the rear as a stand-alone.

A future option that would be nice is a package deal for low voltage accessories power to prevent dead batteries and permit 24 hour recording And perhaps with all the advances in batteries a long lasting battery to get us closer to full time recording. Right now I piece together hardware to increase my recording time with the vehicle off, maybe the shock sensor will do what it supposed to but that feature is like insurance you have it but hope you never need it.

  145. ruwanick

As compared to the Original V1 the V1 3rd generation is a much improved. Size, picture quality, and overall functionality with the WiFi capability kinda neat if you want to use it. I had no problem setting up selecting features from the menu. Sure glad I waited to get the update model. I plan to download to my computer but I may reduce the resolution and try the WiFi function. I also bought the suction mount handy for a rental car but it comes with two adhesive mounts that are low profile that allows hiding behind the rear view mirror. The camera easily mounts and dismounts from the adhesive mounts. Very simple. Over all really satisfied.

  146. acann

Spent a lot of time looking over user and other on line reviews before deciding to purchase the Rexing V1 3rd generation dash cam. Love its very compact size which makes it easy to place anywhere on the windshield obstructing your view . Picture quality is excellent and features are easy to navigate. Couldn’t be happier

  147. Connor

Installing this camera was extremely simple. Thankfully I haven’t needed it for any reason yet, but I’ve reviewed footage off the camera a few times and it is outstanding for the price range. I would highly recommend setting the camera up with a USB cable powering it, as the battery life is very short at higher resolutions.

  148. Bryan White

Great picture. Easy to setup as well as use of the software for GPS tracking. Firmware updates are simple with an online tutorial. the camera works well even when taking a G shock. I recommend this camera if your plan is to do a lot of driving or trucker.

  149. Dan

Hate reviews but this things worth it. I’ve had it on my windshield for about 2 years now and it hasn’t let me down yet. I’ve been offroad, snow, leaky soft top (not water proof by the way so I got lucky) and everything else I decide to throw at it and it still turns on when I start the Jeep, morning dew and everything. Set it in a position where the screen glare doesn’t bother you and you’ll forget it’s even there till you check. video’s look great to me too. Once I set it up I haven’t played with the settings etc… so I can write much tech stuff on that. Set it and forget the thing!!! Just bought the duel Cam for the new truck. A little more money but if this lasts just as long, it’s worth it and if NOT, my next review will be NASTY!…..OK Good luck on your purchase.

I have only had this dash cam for a short while. But, it appears to be well built, has many good features, very good picture quality and the Wifi connection works well. I have ordered a second one for my other vehicle.

  151. James F Cape

I love the operation now that it is set up. The instructions for set up were not quite as simple as I needed but I got it done. The picture quality is great. The cord provided was about 2 feet more than I needed to put into my Chevy Traverse. Now that is done I plan to buy another one for my second vehicle and my daughter’s car.

  152. obbyT

This is my first dashcam and it takes excellent hd video, love that it is small and it starts to record automatically, you almost forget it is even there. Very easy to change settings and transfer video.

  153. J. Purdin

Easy to use very stylish Clarity top notch and very soon I’m going to buy another one for my new 2nd vehicle!!

Thank you so much keep up the amazing work!!

1st of, the customer support is great and their response time is almost instant. The sensor picks up every detail with minimal to non-existent noise even when zoomed. A dash cam is a must have for every driver, and I recently had a guy who hit me at an intersection where the camera helped me a lot to not involve my insurance. Thank you, Rexing, for making our driving experience less stressful by giving us an eye on the road the records everything we could possibly miss.

  155. Chris

I have this hard wired into my 2014 Chevy Cruze. So far no issues with it. The wifi can be a little finicky but other than that the picture quality and recording works great. It’s not bulky and if you have the wires hidden right it’s almost unnoticeable on the windshield. I will most likely be getting the GPS attachment soon.

  156. Man of the World

I Purchased the Dash Cam, SD card 64 gig and the hardware kit to mount. Very easy, simple, instructions in how to install, mount and hard wire it to my cars power supply. Easy to set up. I never drive without it on and the playback is excellent. This is a must have;.

  157. Michael D.

This dash cam is the best design that I have found. Picture quality is top notch and all the control buttons are illuminated and on the front were they should be. Really easy to navigate through the menus. The power cord is long enough to reach my rear axillary Port so you don’t have to use the front one.

  158. Jonathan

I recommend giving this a try. Great dash camera. You can do so much with it. You can fast forward and rewind video. If you need to go back, you can pause & so much more. I had this dash camera for two years now. It can definitely handle The heat as well. I never thought this camera would come in handy as I’ve witness so much from this dah cam. if anyone has one and does not work amazon would dainty give you a replacement.

  159. E. Wright

It took me less than 30 min to setup, install, and hide the wire for this camera. The picture quality looks amazing and I love the wide angle view. It captures 170 degrees which is great. I will be testing out the full video in the next week or so of use but I am very impressed so far. Big thumbs up to Rexing for this dash cam.

  160. Steve P.

I am very happy with the Rexing V1. It was so easy to set up and use. I was able to get it working in just a few short minutes. It came with everything I needed. Not only is it easy to set up, it is easy to use. I love the fact that if something happens, I now have video of the incident. I can turn the video over to the insurance company to prove that I was not in the wrong.
I would definitely recommend the Rexing V1

  161. M. Schulman

I bought the dash cam after getting hit by a car where the driver lied about what happened. There were no witnesses, so their insurance won’t pay to fix my car. This is my insurance that if this ever happens again I have proof. I read a lot of reviews and decided this was the best value for the money that was still high quality.

My dash cam was incredibly easy to setup and incredibly easy to install. I got the Rexing suction cup and the Rexing hard wire kit. The wire pusher helped hide the wire out of site. It took less than 30 minute to setup and install permanently.

The picture quality is incredible! Hopefully I will never need it. But who knows, maybe I will see a UFO.

The camera felt a little to light, but then I decided that was a good thing since it’s suctioned to my dash. Also the memory card it comes with only records a little over an hour. I was hoping it would hold a days worth, but I guess that was wishful thinking.

Looking forward to never needing the camera, but feeling good knowing it’s there.

I had a issue with the power button but readings customer service contacted me and gave a replacement one. Amazing product, is as described and it with stands extreme heat.

  163. Steve

Main negative is that the original 3M mounting adhesive pad did not hold up in the sun and heat. I reattached with a stronger 3M double sided adhesive pad (VHB) and no problems in direct sun and summer heat.

Dashcam performance has been as expected. I appreciate the options of recording from 1080p to QHD and 4k. This allows the user to determine where to trade off from capturing 4k detail vs file sizes.

Unit has built-in WiFi to download recorded files to your phone, but it is extremely slow transfer speeds especially when transferring a 4k clip. It is faster to take out the SD card and transfer it to a computer for viewing.

    Overall, I recommend this unit.

.Today our daughter was in a wreck- the guy rolled through the stop sign & accelerated right into the side of her car… and we have the proof. So glad we have this! Getting one for each car. Heat tolerance is good- we routinely have over 100 degree F days and it’s still working well. We had trouble locating the footage from the wreck at first- it goes into a separate file.

Love this product. Definitely feel comfortable riding around with this and having extra precautions with children in case of an accident.

I’ve never had a dashcam before and wasn’t really sure what I was looking for. This is a good one, though. The screen is small, but it allows you to review the latest traffic in front of you. I deliberately placed the camera where I could not see it while I drive to avoid the distraction.
This is a good unit that does what it says it will.

This was a product that I was going to myself but I asked my daughter to give as a Christmas gift to me. I reviewed the installation on You Tube to set my camera up and followed the Manuel for settings. After driving around a couple of days, I playback the recording on my laptop and showed my family and everyone loved the video. this is absolutely something that can be shared with insurance company and news media for capturing accidents.

Small, simple, and works great. Fits behind my rear view mirror out of the way and is not noticeable from outside the vehicle. I wired it to my vehicles electrical system so it comes on when I turn the car on. I never have to worry about it, it is always recording. The video quality is great, nice wide angle and very clear (1080p). Even the night videos are very good. Hard to read plates at night from the headlight glare at night but that is to be expected. I hope I never actually need the video but I am really glad I have it just in case.

A must have! We used this to prove that there was a tree down that caused us to make an illegal turn that resulted in a picture ticket. Sent in video and it was accepted and NO ticket! Got after an accident as I had no proof the other driver turned improperly into the side of Me!

Had an initial problem with this camera, but Rexing replaced it immediately. Ever since then I’ve had zero issues. The picture and sound is great. One recommendation is to go with their suggest micro sd card. I do like the shape of this unit since it fits more flush with my windshield and less obvious than hanging on my rear view mirror. Update, the recommend micro sd card brand is Lexar.

As advertised, high quality audio and video, easy to set up, mount and hide the wires. Minor issues: Have not uncovered the setting that enables MacBookPro2016 to sync through USBC ports with the device but external card reader is working fine. The white adhesive pad for the windscreen is undesirably visible, recommend it be replaced with a black adhesive pad. Comes with a warning to avoid excessive heat which makes me think its not wise to leave it in a parked car on hot days. Negates the motion auto sensing scanner in that situation. Extremely satisfied.

So small and compact! Perfect! I purchased the Rexing V1 Car Dash Cam 2.4″ LCD FHD 1080p 170 Degree Wide Angle Dashboard Camera Recorder with Sony Exmor Video Sensor, G-Sensor, WDR, Loop Recording for my son because he has been involved in 2 serious road rage incidents. I wanted this to be able to protect him, or anyone else in the family should something like that occur again. When I opened it I was truly impressed with how small and compact it is. I see that this could easily be transferred between vehicles if wanted. It very easily mounts onto your windshield. I like how it records continuously until it gets to the end and will then loop back and record over old files that you do not need, so there is no need to erase every time. I am pleased with this purchase and it makes me feel so much safer that this will be in my son’s car after him having to deal with road rage twice before. This will provide proof of any incident if ever needed again.

    UPDATE*******************************

The customer service at Rexing is very good. Contact them if you experience problems and they will work to make them right. I think that these units end up with problems when left in the extreme heat. In this case, summers in Fresno do a number on these units. In all, I suppose it is less a problem with this unit and more with our climate. For my 3rd unit, I will be taking it out of the vehicle with me when not in use.

    UPDATE***************************************
After posting my original review that 2 out of 2 of these Rexing Dash Cams stopped working altogether (one after a month, another after several months), the vendor sent one replacement unit. It is currently working. I will update this review after using it for some time.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW**************************
I ordered two of these dash cams after reading the reviews, one for each of my vehicles. The first stopped working altogether just after the 30 day return window, and the second stopped working yesterday. Neither are repairable. When they work, they work, but they have a very short life span. Avoid.

very nice cam like how it hooks to the windshield. Step up was easy the the picture quality is very nice. This is the third dash cam I purchased after a wreck in 2013. The first one melted because I left it in the sun. The second one was discolored and I was afraid it was going to go bad for leaving it in the truck on sunny days (here in Florida it does get pretty hot). This one is rated to operate at 140degrees so I think it will be okay. So far so good.

For sometime now i’ve been wanting to get a dash camera to give me some added security. This rexing works perfect. Ive been using it for about 6 months now and i’ve never had a problem. Some times the camera doesn’t turn on if you turn your car on too quickly. I tend to turn my key one notch, wait a few seconds, than turn the car on. If anyone just wants another level of security to ease their conscience then this is a must buy! Id also recommend getting the extended warranty. My only complaint is the night time isnt that great. But its hard to find a good dashcam that is for this price point.

    Update 11/1/19
Recently the data from my dashcam was getting corrupted. When I contacted Rexing they told me to either get new SD card or a new power cable. I just bought a brand new unit and as of right now its working fine. So my advice would be to check the data on the SD cards regularly.

So far this has been a great dash camera, paired with a 32gb Lexar High-Performance microSDHC 633x flash memory card – the type recommended by Rexing. I record in 720p (it is capable of 1080p), which won’t make you a movie-quality video, but it is probably good enough for the purposes of a camera for liability and safety purposes. Be sure to update the camera’s firmware to the latest available, and it appears that Rexing does provide good customer support.

Camera works great as advertised. The only minor issues I had were that I would recommend against using the adhesive mount; use EZ Pass velcro instead, or the suction cup mount if you want to be able to move it between vehicles more easily. I also had an issue where occasionally, the camera would stop recording and say “card full,” when it’s supposed to delete the oldest recording and continue recording indefinitely. This may just be that I didn’t have it set correctly or that I somehow reset the settings to default, though. Regardless of those minor things, this is certainly the best camera in the price bracket.

I used this camera for about a year and a half, until I had an issue with the power port becoming faulty and only accepting charge if the cord was bent a certain way. Originally, I thought this was an issue with the cable, so I contacted Rexing, and they sent me a new cable, no questions asked. When that didn’t fix the problem, I contacted them again, and this time, they sent me an entire new camera for free. On top of that, shipping for the cord and cable was incredibly fast, I received them within two days of Rexing saying that they were shipping them to me.

    Thanks, Rexing!

Received this a birthday gift; after reviewing the instructions and setting the unit up, I took it out for a test drive. Seemed to work okay, and I was reasonably impressed with the video quality. Upon returning home, I gave the User Manual one more look, and noted a recommendation I download and install the latest firmware. I formatted the memory card with the unit, downloaded the firmware update and copied it to the SD card. I hooked the unit up to the car charger and the unit installed the firmware update as described. The manual warns you must reformat the card again before use – ha! No chance. The until will not allow me to access the format option no matter what I try; the buttons are unresponsive and I can’t get more than three options down the menu choice before it freezes (sometimes, all I get is a blue screen that says Mass Storage). These SD cards are expensive, and trouble shooting recommends I just buy another one (as if that will resolve the issue). It’s going back as soon as I can dig up the shipping box.
    ================ UPDATE!
I was advised by Rexing support to update the Date/Time information after installing firmware. At first, the unit would not allow me to access the date/time menu, or if it did, the keys would not respond to update the fields. Maybe I was trying to do it too soon after installing firmware update? At any rate, letting the unit sit overnight, I was able to update date/time and reformat the card. Will test it out over the next few days and further update as appropriate. By the way, neither the website troubleshooting or manual troubleshooting suggest updating date/time after firmware install, which would help.
    ================SECOND (AND HOPEFULLY LAST) UPDATE
Re-tested the unit after reformatting SD card, and it works flawlessly. Excellent video, happy with how almost nonexistent gaps between 3-minute videos, reasonably good sound quality. Very pleased. Also, kudos to Rexing support; within an hour of contacting them by email, I received a very helpful response.

Only tried it once , worked great so far , decent quality.
But buyers beware: THE MEMORY CARD OFTEN SOLD WITH THIS PRODUCT the 64 GB mini card says it has to be formated . Most people do it from a computer. YOU CAN DO IT THROUGH THE CAMERAS SETTING and run the camera and record no computer needed.
I bought the 64 GB card. Works well too.
Overall, good quality, easy to use. And has play back right on the camera itself.
Also if you do not want a permanent mount like the sticky tape they offer. Do what I did and buy the EZ pass Velcro tape. It works great and the camera is very light weight

I received this as a gift, and am very happy with it overall. As long as it is plugged in to your car’s lighter, it will start recording automatically when you start the car, and turn off when you turn the engine off. The picture quality is good, and it is very simple to set up and get running. It will record until the memory is full, then will overwrite the oldest files. Each file contains 10 min of video (configurable) in order to keep files sizes small. That’s all good. On the downside, no memory card is included, so you must buy one in order to get started – add that cost to your budget. Second, I don’t know about you, but I end up replacing my windshield every couple of years due to cracks. Because only a single 2-sided tape mount is included you will no longer have a mount when you replace the windshield, so you will have to get creative at that point.

    EDIT:
The power adapter which plugs into your car lighter has a USB port which you can use to charge other devices. My earlier review complained about the lack of such a feature.

  212. Lee

I have gone through a few different dash cams and this one has lasted the longest. The video quality is good, the camera is small enough that it isn’t conspicuous and it has been reliable so far. I have noticed that once in a while the screen would just come on all by itself for some reason while I was driving. I have no idea why it does this, but it doesn’t seem to effect the video recording, just a bit of a distraction when I am driving, but it is hidden behind my mirror so not a huge deal as long as it keeps recording properly. I also noticed that the battery life isn’t great. It seemed to die pretty fast after the few times it went to battery power. Now i have it set to go off as soon as possible, but it seems like the battery will no longer hold a charge and the unit cuts out after a few seconds of battery power even after being powered by the cord for several hours.

Update: Rexing noticed my review below and sent me another unit which we appreciate. So far so good with the new unit. I only hope that Rexing does not “refurbish” the bad unit we send back to them and put it back out into circulation to some unsuspecting consumer. But we are appreciative of Rexing for sending us another unit. It shows they do have the integrity to do the right thing.

The video quality is pretty good during the daytime but not so great at night. The most annoying problems I have had with this unit is that the monitor has gone a blank flat grey 3 times so far, or it wouldn’t start up. To get it working again I have to unplug it or hit the power button as a try. I’ve only had this dash cam for about a month..not very reliable.. One time it made the sound it usually makes as it starts up, only for the monitor to go blank again. I had driven a few miles before I realized the thing crapped out again on me. This unit isn’t worth the cost and the pain to install only to have it partially work.

I have had this camera for about a year now and it’s still working fine. I was able to review footage from a trip to my local Toyota dealership. I have a highly modified sport car and this camera caught the dealership abusing my car, damaging it, and driving it improperly. Was awarded nearly $1,500 in damages all because of this dash cam (somehow they never even saw it in my windshield). So, the camera has more then paid for itself in only the first year of owning it. Many of my friends have bought this camera as a result. I highly recommend it.

UPDATE (NOV. 2018): Rexing sent me an updated version of the camera. It is still the same form, but the display on the new unit is noticeably better, and the menus/OS is more user friendly. I still think that for the money, it’s a good option. Once you’ve set it up, it’s very low maintenance. Still wish hhe camera had better ergos and grippy rubber or something to grab on to. I never leave it in my car when parked overnight; don’t want someone breaking into my car just to grab it. That is why I wish it didn’t slip out of my hand so easily.
    -END OF UPDATE-

I’ve owned and used this camera for about 6 months now. I use it everyday and it’s been pretty reliable. The quality during the day is good and at night it’s usable. This is a utilitarian camera, so don’t expect cinema-like quality, but it does what it should do. Having said that, there are a couple of things I do not like and wish they would change for future iterations: 1) Physical shape of the camera. This camera is weird to pick up and grab. I never leave it in the car overnight, since I don’t want some idiot to steal it. Taking it off its mount is easy, but actually holding on to is quite difficult. It’s odd shape and slick plastic make it easy to drop. I wish they’d put some rubber or grippy plastic on it. 2) The display. The display on this thing is TERRIBLE! You have to be looking at the screen at just the right angle, otherwise you won’t be able to see much of what the camera is seeing. I’ve seen better displays on devices from the 90s than from this thing. It’s just a horrible display, and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’m used to it now, but if I’d known this, I would’ve gone with another brand. However, I’m keeping this guy because I’m able to turn off the display as I’m driving, so the light from it doesn’t bother me, even as it records. Anyway, if it’s cheap, pick it up and learn to hate the display. The rest of the functions are good. Oh, and grab it well or you’ll drop it due to its odd shape!

I have had 2 accidents this year due to other people’s carelessness. It was clearly time to get my dashcam so I would have protection in the event of another unavoidable crash and will likely help ease the time of the insurance process which is painfully slow and irritating. My advice is to get a dashcam as soon as you can, whether it’s this one or another because it will give you peace of mind if you find yourself in such an unfortunate situation.

    Pros:
    – Records well and in decent quality.
    – Although difficult to see, the camera quality is pretty good. I read somewhere on its description that it is 120 Megapixels. Don’t be fooled, this is likely an error as it’s only 12 Megapixels. It does appear to record in 1080p and has a good image when viewed on the device. (I have not tested its video on any other device yet).
    – Easy to install and mount to your dash. Just be sure you know where you want it to be placed before sticking it. (I recommend leaving it connected to your cigarette lighter as it automatically turns on and off as you turn on and off your engine if you have cigarette lighters that only work when the engine is on.)
    – There are lots of features that I am finding out about it such as it keeping a tab on the license plate of your vehicle, date and time, GPS capability, etc.
    – SD card usage is great. Not sure its limit, but I have a 64 GB card which will hold a lot of room for videos and pictures.
    – Has the ability to not only take video but also pictures. This will be great if ever in an accident and you need to take pictures of the damage done (highly recommended). Will come in handy if, say, your cell phone has flown across the vehicle during the impact and is damaged.
    – Is small and easily mobile. Great for carrying from one vehicle to another (will need separate holder to connect it to another window) or using it to safely and discreetly record the aftermath of an accident (some accidents bring out emotions and people can do things to you to prevent you from documenting their lies and/or the truth of what occurred during and after the accident.)
    – Has ability to turn off screen so you don’t have to worry about a bright screen shining in your face while you are driving in the dark (which can cause an accident, on its own).
    – Camera lens can be titled down or up, depending on where you need it placed.
    – Does not use a proprietary charging cable which is great if you ever lose or damage the ones that came in the box.
    – Comes with a cigarette lighter adapter as well as a USB adapter so it can be hooked up to a computer (haven’t tried it).
    – others

    Cons:
    – Screen is a little too small to really see what happened. Best to attach it to another device (like a computer or a mobile device with a bigger screen if you need to view a past video)
    – Sound quality is poor from the device. I have not tested it in another device, but if you attempt to view the video on the device and need to hear the sound, it will be hard to hear. Let me put it this way, if you sing in the car (like I do), it barely plays your voice back to you when playing on the device. It may have a great microphone and just poor speakers, but I haven’t tested that yet. Mostly, if involved in a crash, your video is what is most important in telling the story as the audio wold be more about you and how you were driving which may be counterproductive, so this isn’t something to be worried about if the sound isn’t great.
    – Plastic quality feels cheap but I have dropped it once on hard wood floor and it survived without a scratch or any other visible damage. It works just fine too.
    – While it’s easy to install, to your window, it is difficult to attach the wires in a hidden manner. I just left mine hang from the window and it connects to the cigarette lighter.
    – Instructions are a bit difficult to set up. I recommend you setting it up how you think it should work, taking it for a very short test drive around your neighborhood, testing the video you just recorded, and then playing with the settings this way. This is how I found out the best settings for my daily drive.
    – I am having difficulty getting it to continuously record. I bought a 64 GB card (which can store hundreds of hours of video) but it still seems to record videos in increments of 3 minutes which is annoying to swipe through that many videos to get to one from earlier in the day. You likely won’t have this issue immediately after an accident as it will just be the most recent video taken.
    – It is difficult trying to figure out other settings such as how to do better loops.
    – It would be nice to have a better, smarter way of it turning on and off in sync with the engine than relying on the cigarette lighter.
    – Battery seems to not last very long. Had it off the charger for about 15 minutes and it had already lost one bar of battery.
    – Big screen but it is not touch screen. Controls are confusing to navigate the device. Example: I cannot seem to fast forward and rewind when watching videos.
    – others

Overall, it’s a great dashcam. I caught someone last night trying to run into me so it’s already come in handy if anything were to come of that encounter. It is small and very convenient. I love that I can check my videos and pictures even if I do not have a separate device to do so at the time I need to. I would recommend it to anyone who asked my opinion.

I was going to send it back, but after downloading and reinstalling software, everything works great. Only problem I had was I couldn’t get the recording to loop and record over the old videos. I did follow the directions in the manual, and it didn’t work. But, all is better now. I have caught about a half dozen near misses and one accident right in front of me. As well as hours of high quality off-road footage in my adventures. I took my time at install and tried to hide as much of the power wire as possible (pesky fat “thing” on the camera side plug kinda droops out of my headliner.

But the videos are good quality, however, I have not been able to make out a license plate number of another vehicle in the light or the darkness. (I am not too technology savvy, so it could be me). I would recommend having an extra memory card for reasons.

When i was looking for a dashcam, i was looking for quality, ease to use, and budget. This dashcam has lots of reviews and seemed just what i was looking for as it included hq recording loop that detects accidents and autorecords… I’m really happy with the dashcam so far! The only issue is that sometimes the dashcam would not auto turn on and its not because its “too hot” this occurs when its like 70degrees? So i’m unsure if its a defect or normal for the product. I wish the attachment to the windshield is not doublesided tape but i guess it makes it easier and cheaper. Hopefully they can change this in the future but overall im very happy with this product so far! Good recording and is quite sleek design which allows it to not be seen like other cams. I bought a 128 gb micro sd so im set! I hope this dashcam can last 2+ years and if so, 5 stars!

Pretty much worked out of the box. I first ordered a Black Box G1C, but the date and many of the settings kept going back to default, and the recommended firmware update just would not take. I then ordered a Rexing V1, but waited several weeks for that shipment before finding that the seller had stiffed a LOT of people. Finally ordered the same camera from this seller, and it showed up the next day. 🙂

A few steps involved to get the firmware updated, but it went pretty easily and the camera functions just fine. Easy to install and setup. Oddly, it appears to use the same firmware as the Black Box camera’s (which I could not get to work), but the Rexing seems to have a much better implementation of it, so no trouble so far.

11/2/16 Update: The camera is working quietly and flawlessly. The video and audio look and sound great. Very happy with it so far…

  229. Brian

After reading many dash camera reviews and recommendations, I decided to get the Rexing V1 camera.
I’ve only had it about one month and so far so good. The manual did not match the settings on the camera until I downloaded the latest upgrades – then they matched correctly. Upgrading the firmware was easy and the instructions from the web page (rexingusa.com) worked perfectly.
The installation in my Jeep Grand Cherokee went fairly smoothly and the cable was long enough to be tucked under the headliner, down the passenger column and then snaked to the socket in the dash. I wanted to use the socket in the center console, but it always live.
I also bought a 64 Gb card and it formatted well (both on PC and in unit.) Finding a particular section you want to review can be a bit frustrating and time consuming. The MOV files have year/month/day sequence number in the filename.
I placed the unit just to the passenger side of the mirror and lens below the frit (dots) and dark tint. The lens is adjustable (up/down) and the unit can be removed from the base fairly easily (I need to remove the unit to take the mini card out as it is a bit close to the mirror.)
It records when you start the vehicle and stops a few seconds after power is cut. The video is pretty good, especially on partially cloudy days. Going towards the sun, a bit of definition is lost, but acceptable. Nightime is OK and oncoming cars do not completely washout all details, but I didn’t expect perfection. Audio is OK.
I didn’t do enough investigation to find out that it doesn’t record (or show) speed – the manual tells how to set it, but you need another $40 GPS unit to have that capability.
All in all I like it and hope it keeps working this well.

  230. ramimnowb

Very sharp image. Small and easily concealable behind the rear view mirror.

  231. BWylde

Easy to install (although the manual could have better written with “what to do first and what to do next” for set-up instructions) and it takes excellent quality videos. Unfortunately, I had to exchange my first one since it didn’t “save” the videos with the “hotkey.” I kept looking for some indication that the video was saved. Now I know that a “saved video” gets put into a separate folder on the memory card. Customer service was excellent with a “no hassle” replacement. By all means, go to the web and watch the webcam installation videos for hidden cord placement (hint to Rexing: make a step-by-step video for installation instruction!). Be careful setting the time stamp as it is based on military time (24 hours). My first videos were stamped with AM instead of PM. I spent quite awhile looking for the AM or PM setting, but couldn’t find it because……there is none! Like I said, the manual could have been better! By the way, videos are MOV files. I also realize now that you don’t have to charge the unit fully with the USB adapter and a computer before using it in the car with the cigaretter lighter adapter. And, BTW, if you open the top of the cigarette lighter adapter, there is a USB port (for what use?). OK, the manual should have told me all that.

  232. Jason

Got this today. Spent 49 seconds flipping through the manual, enough to get the basics setup. It didn’t like the 128gb SD card out of the box. Had to put the card in while it was on just for the camera to see it, although the manual said DONT DO THAT, but it worked. I updated the firmware, s et it up and installed it while running errands and just let it run. I like it’s setup as install and forget, it starts and begins recording at accessories are turned on, and powers off at shutdown. I reviewed the footage when I came home and it’s high quality. Some plates are hard to see at night due to the state, but I can’t blame that on the camera. NJ more reflective than NY for example. For the price it’s decent and full of options. I need to read the manual more before I comment more on ease of use features. I would like it easier to use, even if it meant more buttons. The screen is only viewable if your looking at it straight on. Unless your facing the screen flat, it’s not clear. The unit is smaller than expected from the pictures, that’s a plus. I’ve only used it for an hour so far, with reading that manual, and experience using it, maybe my 4 star will turn into a 5. I know friends are unhappy with their suction cup versions, not only do the cups fail, the snap in holders tend to get loose. That shouldn’t be a problem with this.

Its been a few months of use, and I find that it randomly stops recording. You can stop and restart the recording again, and the counter will go, but it just stops randomly. This happens even after a card format. Not really good for a dash cam.Dropping from 4 stars to 2. Update – the manufacturer replaced the unit. No problems.

  233. Serenata

I bought the second one in September 2017, six months later, I found out that the unit screen displayed and also record false color. I emailed the Rexing customer service and they told me to send the defect unit back to them. Two weeks later, Rexing sent me a replacement unit. All shipping fees are paid by Rexing. I’m so happy with Rexing customer service. Thumbs up!

I was rear ended recently after using this camera for 9 months. The cam paid for itself when the police officer came to take my statement and I showed him my dash cam. He barely had any questions for me after viewing the evidence. The officer stated that he LOVES it when drivers have cams – it probably makes his life so much easier. Having a dash cam is an absolute must and this cam performed when I needed it the most.

However, since this is also a PRODUCT review, there are several issues with the camera that have cropped up in my 9 months of using it.

    1) Internal battery is DEAD. It doesn’t work – at all – anymore. Time and date are constantly resetting.
    2) The USB power connector is very very sensitive and flimsy and sometimes, it takes a lot of fidgeting to get the plug “just right” so it stays on. It’s not a cable issue as I have similar issues with disconnects when I plug the camera into my USB ports to pull files.
    3) No option to “turn off when no movement detected for x minutes” setting. This is a very important for those whose cars’ outlets do NOT shut off when the engine is off. I came back from a 1 week trip and my car battery was dead!

So overall, 5 STARS for value the dash cam provides, 3 STARS for the quality of the actual product over a 9 month usage period. Regardless of what cam you end up buying, the thing is to BUY one. When/if you ever have an accident, it is the most solid evidence you can have.

  236. SP

I would love to rate this 5 stars and I probably would have. Unfortunately, after using it for 2 month, cam goes into infinite loop when you turn it on. So startup charm plays continuously with frozen picture on the screen. Keep in mind, it’s in mint condition and I remove it from he windshield every time I park my car while at work to prevent sun exposure and theft. Worked in the morning and didn’t when I turned plugged it back on in the evening. Tried resetting to no avail. When it did work, it was great. Picture and audio quality was excellent. Very sad, because after reading reviews on many dashcams, this seemed as best choice. Seller, I am willing to take replacement as I still like what camera has to offer…

UPDATE: Seems that its doing the above because there is no more room on my 64mb card. I deleted all videos and it started working again. I am updating this from 2 to 4 stars, unless someone can tell me why its not overwriting older files.

Product came in the mail in a nice box, intact. I mounted and installed it on my vehicle. Works good after the install and after a few weeks the unit started acting weird and was cutting out on recording every once in while. It was not getting the power from the cigarette lighter plug. I troubleshot the problem and found out the cigarette lighter plug itself is the culprit (maybe) but when I did a test with a multimeter tester the cigarette lighter plug itself had connectivity issues inside it wherein it does not fully work once in a while. The camera mount adhesive bracket fell off the windshield after I installed it properly (cleaned the windshield using isopropyl alcohol and waited 24 hours before installling the camera). The bracket’s plastic tab has also broken off the mounting tab with 3M adhesive. Since I already routed it through my vehicle’s dashboard from under the headliner down to the roof pillar (driver’s side) I really did not want to tear up my car’s dashboard and door pillar due to sensitive SRS side pillar mounts. I contacted the company asking for a resolution and awaiting their response.

Product otherwise is good, slick and discretely mounted design works well (for the first few weeks). Maybe I got a lemon or just a defective power cord/adapter. We’ll see.

Update to dashcam. Been using since last and camera worked fine until a couple days ago when the camera was acting up. Somehow the monitor will show a fuzzy picture and everytime I had to reset it and unplug it from the mini USB power cord and it will reset. When I played the recorded video it also shows fuzzy picture on my computer. However, seems not good product or maybe just a glitch in the camera electronics but with life dependent video recordings this could be a problem. However, the camera looks good. Wish I could have a better review but it did not meet my expectation.

Outstanding customer service. Company representative communicated with me after years of using the product. Company representative authorized a replacement after the product started acting up. That’s what I call customer service. He stood by their product. Will recommend to others.

So far this dash cam has worked exceedingly well. One tip, you’ll want to position this camera as close to the center of the windshield as possible. The front view isn’t wide enough to cover adequately if you have it off to one side and there’s no way to angle the camera head. The only camera adjustment is up and down. Aside from that minor ding, this is far better than my last dash cam, which was the type that fits over the mirror. The license plate feature is also useless. When you first get it you think it’s some kind of OCR that reads the plate in front of you. Ha! It lets you type in your own license plate. A fairly useless feature on an otherwise entirely decent dash cam.

Pros: Lightweight, good video, easy installation, very reliable operation. Very easy to remove and take with you and accessing the video files is a breeze.

Cons: The startup noise it makes sounds like someone strangling a rat. I wish they’d change that to a cleaner chime or ding. No way to angle the camera lens left or right, only up and down.

For the money you can’t go wrong.

The camera takes excellent quality video and recommend it overall. I also like it’s low profile and not hanging down in your view like many other cameras do. I have two of these and both do a great job. One in my truck and one in my wife’s SUV. The only issues I’ve had with it is the adhesive did give way one time and the camera did fall in the summer from the extreme heat inside the car this past summer. So if a stronger mounting tape could be used that would be great. The only other issue I have had is one time there was an incident I would have liked that it had recorded, but it didn’t because I’m assuming the SD card was loose or not in the slot well because it didn’t record. I think that was my fault though as I was adjusting it a few days prior and probably moved the SD card just enough to cause the issues and should have checked it and reformatted the disk when I messed with it. So if you adjust yours I would double check all is well.

Product is well designed and blends in nicely. I did not want to have some ugly suction cup mounted camera with a cord dangling across the dashboard to a cigarette lighter power jack.
This camera allows for a flush mount and with some handy work I tapped into the 12 volt power of my truck using this http://amzn.to/2bGAZcp 12V-USB power supply. Unlike an other power supply I bough this one is small and has a short USB cable!

After careful installation I was dismayed to see the camera stand out like a sore thumb due to the white foam tape that came with the camera. It took quite some effort to remove this tape from the windshield and install it a black 3M double sided piece of foam tape.

Will see how the camera works in real life. I might get a 2nd one facing to the rear.

  245. Kindle Customer

This is my second dashcam and is an improvement over it’s predecessor. The 1080p resolution and the field of view provide a very good view. Of course, nighttime video looks like it was taken at night and is pretty good, but certainly not daylight quality. The results will vary with the availability of streetlights, headlights, moonlight, etc.

I do notice a little bit of glare of light sources inside the car being reflected off of the inside of the windshield. This will vary, too, with the installation and the slope of your windshield. It’s not bad, but it’s noticeable in recordings at night. It would be nice if the camera included a small shield to enclose the area between the lens and the inside of the windshield to prevent this glare.

Realize that this is the base version. More expensive models are available with GPS and rear window capabilities. This is the one I chose and it does everything that I want. I would recommend it.

One note….it does put out some RFI radio interference. You probably won’t notice this unless you are an amateur radio operator, or have some specific less common radio receiving equipment.

Update: good customer service. They sent me another camera for free to make up for the bad one. This one works good.

First I thought this is the best camera, after a week, I regretted so much. This camera is not worth $1!
Camera stops recording by itself. This happened many times within one week. I tried to format the memory and try again but no luck. The loop function is not working. The G-Sensor is such a B.S. because every time it senses anything, it will LOCK (lol) the video but it will not start recording again!!! if you wanna spend money on a good camera, I will suggest buying this one: https://amzn.com/B01HPEF7PQ

I chose to try the Rexing V1 as my first dash cam and it does not disappoint! It is very discrete and fairly easy to install. The windshield mount is very sturdy. The camera operation is easy to use, but has many settings options (like recording resolution, still image capture, permanent saving of data in an event, auto-overiding old data once card is full, auto power one and power off, time-delay power off, etc.) The video quality is good and provides a good angle of view. I can confirm that it is recognizing and properly using my 128GB microSD card. It did not recognize it at first, but was fixed by formatting the card in the dash cam. (You can do this from the menu.)

    Regarding the installation and mounting…
Beware! Make sure you get your mount placement correct on the first try because it is very difficult to move, and as I found out the hard way, does not stick again after pealing off (since the sticky pad they use separates from the mount). It was very sturdy for several weeks until I tried to adjust the placement, afterwhich it fell off after parking in the hot sun. The mount is likely designed to stick tightly once placed and should not be moved or reused.
I wish that Rexing would sell these mounts separately, as I would likely pick up a couple as back up, or for switching vehicles.

The car charger is plenty long and allows running along headboard down door frame to the 12V outlet. I did purchase a fuse expander and mini-usb hardwire kit to hardwire the camera power to one of my vehicle’s fuses. The Rexing V1 was compatible and works as intended with the hardwire kit.

Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this dash cam. It would be nice if Rexing sold the windshield mount as an accessory as well as “in-house” hardwire kits with good instructions (since patching together other third party kits is a bit tedious.) Also touch screen operation would be even better and easier, but at this price point, that is an unreasonable expectation. As it stands, I’ve rated this product 4/5. If the mount could be removable and reusable or if Rexing sold it separately, I would rate this product 5 stars.

Worked right away. Lightweight and fit the curve of our windshield fine. We mounted it a bit to the right to avoid all the apparatus of our car — auto dim mirror, antennae, etc. We had to mount it a bit lower than preferred because our windshield has all kinds of black dots for the mirror functions. But the driver isn’t impacted at all with final location. Plenty of cord to route above the visor, down roof post, and under glove box; all essentially out of sight. We liked the image quality much, then later found that we still had the factory film over the lens; it got even better. Used a Samsung M-SD card and it worked fine right away. The start up was a bit confusing as we were following the manual yet it powered up running and recording, making the manual’s steps not work. It took a bit to figure out that it was recording and how to stop recording to allow us to select items. The initial menu button-ology is a bit unusual, it took a bit to figure things out, and we feared we’d have to have manual with us all the time, but turns out the menu how-to use stayed in our memory and it is easy to go through menus when desired without referencing manual. We were concerned the plastic would melt in the intense Arizona sun, as the unit gets warm when mounted, but it is still functioning and held its shape. The mount is reasonably simple, but for ours it takes two hands to get it off yet leave the adhesive mounted pad still on windshield; would have preferred that be a bit easier, but at least it stays put when on bumpy roads. The audio wasn’t the greatest as we could only understand some of the spoken words. Our new car is very quiet but the play back showed lots of road noise coming through. However, it picked up the radio music reasonably clear.

Pretty solid dash cam for the price. I snagged this during prime day this year and it’s worked out pretty well so far. Originally I had planned on wiring this directly to the battery, but wanted to put it through a round of tests beforehand. I haven’t bothered to wired it up directly to the battery yet. It was super nice that the standard cigarette lighter 12v cable is long. It’s around 10ft I believe. I had just enough length to get the wiring through the headliner, down the A pillar, under the door molding, under the drivers seat, and plugged into the 12v plug in the center console.

Pros: The video quality is actually surprisingly good. It’s almost as good as my gopro minus the frame rate. It captures good detail and I am can clearly see other cars license plates. I bought this more or less for safety reasons and I think it satisfies that need.

Cons: The plastic adhesive mount could be improved. It doesn’t fit snug enough. I generally listen the the stereo pretty load and the factory subwoofers in the trunk shake the camera quite a bit and it wobbles on the mount. Another downside is if you have the g-sensor enabled to lock files on vibration. The subwoofers will set off the g-sensor (on highest setting) every time I drive. I ended up disabled the g-sensor. If I really need some footage It should be easy enough to pull it before it gets written over.

To try and fix the wobbly mount issue I got some thin black foam and glued it top of the camera around where the mount sits. This was it vibrates less from the stereo.

Must say that for the price you truly can’t beat this dash camera. The first thing I would like to mention is that you can literally insert a micro SD card and plug the power cord into the car and it immediately starts recording as you would want it to do. If you never changed a single setting the camera would work and function just as needed right out of the box. Of course you do have to adjust the date if you want the time stamp to be correct. At any time you can press the large button on the front with the yield sign that says “OK” and it will protect the current recording from being overwritten. This is good because if you witness something while driving that you want to keep you do not have to navigate through any type of menu options for this. My only small complaint is that i wish the Micro SD card was more easily removable. I usually have to use a pen or something to press in on it for it to release. Most of the time the card just stays in the camera at all times though so this certainly isn’t a deal breaker. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone. I have been considering getting another for my wife’s car as well.

The Rexing V1 is an affordably priced option for those who don’t need every bell and whistle on their dashcam. Image quality is good in 1080, and the unit functions reliably with a high-speed micro SD (they recommend class 10) in SDHC mode (it does not appear to support SDXC). The included mounting plate and foam sticker pads work well and allow for easy removal when desired. The adhesive has held up in extreme heat when cheaper ones fail immediately, so I’m optimistic for their long-term outlook. Documentation is adequate if not stellar, with some evidence of translation issues and some features not entirely explained (for instance, you can ‘lock’ a film clip to memory that will not be recorded over if you hit the OK button, but it seems you need to hold it down briefly to activate this feature, something not mentioned in the manual). All in all, it does what I needed for a reasonable price, and I am initially pleased. I will update with long-term reliability observations.

Solid little dashcam so far. I’ve had it in place for about a week now with no issues, using it with a sandisk 32GB card. The image quality is solid, and I’m glad that it works well in areas with bright/dark mixed (e.g. trees and shadow on one half of the image, bright sky on the other.) The mount has a little wiggle too it, but not so much that it vibrates around. It attaches to the glass with double sided foam tape and would be easy enough to replace when/if it wears out. The power cord is very long, and I like that the end that plugs into the car has a USB port on it – I assume it’s only rated at 1 amp.

The interface is easy to figure out after a few minutes, even without a manual handy. Definitely test its usage thoroughly before you rely on it – if you don’t have a good understanding of how it works you may run into issues down the road.

Would rate 5 stars if I could disable the lights on it entirely. There are red/blue lights behind the buttons on the unit, and it’d be nice to turn them off entirely, especially at night.

I purchased the Rexing V1 2.4″ dash cam on Amazon Prime Day. I had been reading reviews for several weeks and was very interested in the camera so I jumped at the chance to purchase it at this reduced price. It arrived very quickly and was extremely simple to set up and use. The video is clear, not wobbly or jittery and plays back very nicely on my iMac. I’m very satisfied with the clarity of the picture in daylight and under lower lighting conditions. My only advice to new users is to ensure you pick out a good spot on your windshield before actually peeling off the backing and sticking it to the glass. I made the mistake of marking off a spot, taking into consideration the half an inch or so needed to mount and unmount the device, but I didn’t have the cord connected to the side of the unit. When I tried to mount the camera WITH the cord attached, it wouldn’t fit and I had to work hard to peel the mount off the windshield and reattach it slightly to the left. Because of this, the mount has fallen off my windshield a couple of times. I’m going to have to remove it, reattach with some new two-sided tape and hope for the best. This wasn’t Rexing’s fault, it was my own and I only mention it so other users will be more careful when searching for a spot to mount it. Also, be mindful of any sensors you may have on the back of your rear view mirror (like I have). You don’t want the cam to block anything your car uses to make emergency braking applications, etc.

You cannot go wrong at this price point. Although I hope I never need this for the reason I bought it (insurance purposes in case of a collision), it’s comforting to know it’s mounted there out of sight and is my silent partner with the watchful eye.

If you are interested in logging GPS data, purchase the model that sells the GPS add-on as a set to save about $10-15.
I purchased two of these to install both in the front and the rear.

I like how these are low-profile, unlike some competing products that’s bulky.
I wish the lower right half of the unit is on a swivel, or can be rotated so that i can record the driver’s side in the event I get pulled over by an officer…

The recorded video quality is decent in daylight, but it night-time recording could be better.
Unfortunately, the unit lacks any Infra-red sensors to assist with night-time recording.
I have tinted windows in the back, so the recording is a bit blurry on all settings (exposure, etc). It is difficult, if not impossible, to read the license plates of the vehicles behind me when my car is in motion. I still have it installed anyway, in the event I get rear-ended by a driver who’s either texting, or playing Pokemon Go. the video will prove the driver was too busy staring at his damn cellphone to brake in a timely manner. =)

The lowest time interval for video clips is 3 minutes. A 30-second clip option would have been nice.
(This is because some states, like California will only accept 30 second clip video in court, apparently).

I bought this dash cam in preparation for a long car trip I’m taking and I’ve been testing it out over the past week or so. I’ve checked the recordings it has taken and I’m very happy with the quality of the image and audio. The camera itself has a large field of view and is very easy to adjust and set up. Taken strictly as a dash cam itself, I think this is a great choice.

There are two ways I think the camera could be improved, however
    1. The camera uses a mini-usb cable that, while it stays in place very well, can be a hassle to remove. A magnetic connector would be an excellent addition to the package.
    2. The internal battery for the camera only lasts a few seconds after removing the power cable. While I don’t think this is a huge issue, I can see certain circumstances when this would be a problem. If the battery could power the device for 5 minutes, even, I think it would be a great upgrade.

Overall, though, I don’t think these complaints diminish what is otherwise a stellar dash cam.

Edit: After two years of using this I’ve lowered the review because it has a flaw I find very annoying. Randomly it will say “please insert an SD card” even when there is one in there. I’ve tried multiple brands/storage capacity and it happens to all of them. The only fix I’ve found is a combination of taking it out/re-inserting, and reformat it. (Which sucks if you want it to record ASAP, & have recordings you want to keep.
In addition to that I witnessed a wreck the other day and it didn’t record it. It literally recorded the whole trip up until about 15 minutes before and it just stopped.

Very pleased with this purchase. I was lucky to purchase this during Amazon days for a great discount. Great quality and build of the camera. I use it in the hot summers of Georgia and experience no issues with heat damage. Day and night video are superb for the price.

I have tried many cameras and although this one is not perfect, it is my favorite one that I have tried so far.

    PROS:
    • Video quality is great. There really is a huge amount of difference in 1080p compared to the lesser cameras.
    • Wide angle really is wide angle. Seems to equivalent to a 10 – 12mm lens. Other cameras with a narrower field of view may miss recording interesting events.
    • Contrast / exposure is excellent. Does quite well in bright, high contrast and also relatively well in low light. This includes when the summer sun is blasting directly into the lens; the camera seems to ignore that direct sunlight in the metering well, so you don’t lose the rest of the picture.
    • Windshield glare is minimal compared to other cameras. This camera’s lens is mounted right up against the windshield glass. The result is a relatively glare free picture. Other cameras that have more separation between the windshield glass and lens glass tend to pick up more glare from the sun on the windshield at certain angles.
    • Menus are not terrible. They could be better, but compared to other cameras they are fairly intuitive. I have not owned a dash cam with better menus, so I can’t fault this camera for a couple of minor menu annoyances.
    • Loop recording. Some other dash cams stop recording when it fills up a memory card. Not this one, it will record over older things. You can turn the feature off, but I’m not sure why anyone would want to. There is also a G-sensor so if you are in a significant traffic event it will protect that video from being lopped over.
    • Still saves video after you cut power. Many cameras write the live video to cache, and don’t save that video to the memory card until a segment of a certain length is reached. So you will always lose the end of each trip. Not this camera, it saves it all. I am not sure if it is saving to the chip live, so if the camera is destroyed during an accident I am not sure if that data will make it on to the memory card.
    • Firmware is updated fairly regularly, and is easy to do without bricking your hardware.
    • Mounting that is done right will never fall off. Much more reliable than a suction mount.
    • Uses the ubiquitous and sturdy mini-USB.

    CONS:
    • Mounting is both a pro and a con, because if you screw up the mounting you only have one shot. Also, the adhesive in the mount bends slightly in the first couple weeks after mounting it. You may mount the orientation perfectly level, but the weight of the USB power cord on the right side will tilt your picture to the right over a few days. The solution I found is to mount the camera in front of the rear view mirror, about 5 degrees tilted to the left hand side. Then let the power cord dangle and pull the picture closer to optimal alignment over the next few days. Once it has settled to level, coil the power cord around the rear view mirror mount so it does not weigh as heavy on the orientation of the mount.
    • Built in GPS would be a plus, even if it was just for automatically setting the clock. I would have been willing to pay a bit more for the feature.

I have had this installed for about 4 months and thought it was time to add a review. People have covered most of the important stuff so I’ll add a few things that might be useful to people.

#1 VERY IMPORTANT TIP: If you have the screensaver enabled like most people, you have to press the “OK” button *TWICE* to mark the current file for protection. This is not mentioned anywhere in the manual and I lost quite a few videos that I thought were saved because I assumed that pressing the button would save the current file. This is different behavior than the G1W dash cam and should be mentioned loudly in the documentation. After all, this is why you’re getting a dash cam, right?

#2 is about the adhesive mount. It is indeed a high quality 3M adhesive strip and was a big part of my decision to buy this style of dash cam instead of a suction cup mount style (which tend to fail in high heat). I live in Texas and don’t park in a garage. It is now July and after 3-4 months I can tell the adhesive is starting to melt. If you live in a hot climate you may want to investigate a better way to mount a dash cam. I may end up having to remove the adhesive, which will probably be ugly, and just glue the mount to my windshield. I had read reviews and was hoping this high quality adhesive would hold up better than a suction cup in the southern USA, but it seems not. If you live in Minnesota this will probably not be an issue for you.

#3 the firmware is acceptable, navigating the menu is less painful than other cheap Chinese electronic devices. Also the manual is fairly complete and understandable by English speakers, which is a nice change from the typical Chinglish manuals for cheap Chinese devices like this. I still don’t understand why these companies don’t pay a native English speaker a couple hours labor to convert manuals into actual English. But this one is pretty good as far as they go.

Overall this is probably a 3.5/5 star device. It is twice the price of the venerable G1W with roughly equivalent video/sound quality. The form factor is much nicer and you can barely tell it’s there from the outside of the vehicle. I had high hopes for the mounting bracket but it looks like I will have to glue it to the windshield after all. I will update if I run into any more serious issues.

This dashcam is super easy to set up and use. The manual is very clear to read and understand, and the device itself is alot smaller then I thought it would be. The hardest part was running the cable neatly up the pillar and through the edge of the headliner, but it’s as simple as putting a micro SD card it, and upon power up it starts to record. Getting the angle and positioning right takes some trial and error but it’s definitely worth having in that rare case for you to have proof of what you witnessed

After doing a lot of research on the internet, I decided to buy the Rexing V1 due to its size and due to the fact that it comes with an adhesive mount. I don’t like suction cup mounts because they tend to fail over time. I hard-wired the unit to my car so that whenever the ignition is on, the unit will be powered.

    Pros
    – Secure adhesive mount (it has a quick attach/detach system);
    – Adjustable lens angle;
    – Ability to mute/unmute the microphone with the press of a button;
    – Excellent 1080p quality during daytime. The night time quality is not as great but it is still above the average when compared to other models;
    – Loop recording;
    – Ability to select the lenght of the video files (3min/5min/10min);
    – Stealth appearance;
    – ability to support up to 128GB (as of now I have only tried it with a 32GB card);
    – multi language menu;
    – ability to record speed and lat/long if using the GPS antenna (I bought the Itrue GPS logger. It allow me to view the tracking on the map, lat/long, current speed, max speed, average speed and distance traveled);
    – Screen saver that allows the screen to automatically turn off after 15sec, 1min or 3min;

    Cons
    – So far I have not found one (I have been using the camera for three weeks).

    EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I contacted Rexing due to difficulties I was having to set the date format and to keep the time set. They responded back in less than 24 hours.
They customer service representative was nice, understanding and polite and even offered me to issue a replacement unit under warranty. After troubleshooting the unit with the representative’s support, all the issues I was having were solved. I was very truly impressed with Rexing’s customer service. They are professional, understanding and commited to keeping their customers satisfied.

Thank goodness for Dash Cams! Most of the time when you seen a front/rear collision, it is often automatically assumed that the rear driver is at fault. However, in this case, it was not and this dash cam is my only proof of evidence. I installed this dash cam myself back in December when I purchased my car and wired it myself. It wasn’t difficult and I was able to conceal most of the wires. Anyway, there’s tons of reviews here that elaborate on the product, so I encourage you to read those.

  267. SegmentationFault

Let’s face it: people lie. If you drive a car, you NEED to have a dash cam running in your vehicle at all times. I’ve heard of horror stories of people simply unable to convince insurance companies on their innocence due to a lack of hard evidence. For a $100 investment, it may potentially save you thousands down the road.

I’ve been using the V1 for about a week and it’s been great so far. I say “so far” because I’ve been through two other dash cams that failed on me, so I’ll hold out on the enthusiasm until perhaps six months of usage. The initial striking feature of this camera is its ergonomic design that sits flush with the curvature of the windshield. Most other dash cams I’ve tried pretty much hang off of it via suction cups, which tend to fail on hot summer days. This one comes with a single 3M adhesive and mounting plate that attach statically to the windshield and don’t come off. You simply slide in and out the camera from the mounting plate when you want to use it.

    Pros:
    – Wide angle lens for great recording converge-
    – Great HD quality
    – Responsive buttons/UI
    – Support for a GPS module
    – Built in acceleromter(?) to auto-lock files in case of a would-be accident

    Cons
    – Comes with only one adhesive/mount.
    – Latest firmware update adds Rexxing branding to my recordings. Not sure if this is a demo default or something that cannot be removed.

I’ll keep refreshing this review with any updates.

I’ve used this dashcam for a little over two weeks and so far I have no complaints. It’s easy, reliable and inconspicuous. I love the idea of protecting myself against dumb drivers and I felt having a dashcam would be just as valuable as car insurance (minus the cost, since the cost of this product is nothing compared to a lawsuit, insurance battle, etc). I’ve used this camera in nearly all conditions, rain, sun, morning and night and experienced no problems. I wish I had this camera week earlier when a mountain lion crossed the road during our vacation. It would have been cool to see that on video.

Easy and quick customer service. Held up well onto a steep windshield (Jeep Wrangler).

After a few weeks driving with my dashcam, I’ve had 0 complaints about it thus far. Spent almost 8 hours driving one day and it performed amazing! The mounting is non-intrusive as well thanks to the shape and size, so you don’t have to worry about it getting in the way. Mic works well too, and thankfully you’re able to decide if you wish to record audio or not to save space, as the high resolution can take up space easily, but with a 32-gb card you should be able to get more than 3 hours worth of footage.

Update: Highly recommend hard-wiring the camera, because you can set it up to turn on when you key on the ignition, and turn off when you key off as well.Unfortunately after 1 1/2 years though, the lithium polymer battery ended up swelling and malfunctioning! Even in the hot Southern California heat, it should have survived according to the 140 deg F operating limits stated in the manual. I have it hard-wired so it was never discharged when used. Lowering rating to 4 stars unless Rexing will allow a replacement because it should be covered under the 18 month extended warranty (free when you register your cam in their site). Other than that, it was still running great prior. I still love the camera itself, I know if they can’t cover it, I can always buy a $5-10 replacement battery, its a common 3.7 V 320 mAh battery, and it’s very easy to replace.

  272. D. Ellis

I like this unit and so far have been impressed. However, there are a couple things that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. First is the placement of the ferrite bead/choke. It’s only 3″ from the unit. Try hiding that bulky thing under the headliner and you’ll have a bulge that you can’t help but notice. If they had placed it closer to the plug to the DC socket, it would be easy to conceal behind the floorboard carpet or dash somewhere (that’s out of sight).
The second issue are distracting aspects. One is the screen that defaults to turning on. It’s easy enough to press the far right button and turn off, but you must do that every time you start the car/turn on the unit. However, even when you turn off the screen, there’s a constant flashing red light that reminds you the unit is recording. This light bleeds through several of the buttons, so it cannot necessarily be isolated by a piece of electrical tape.
If you have the option of placing the unit behind the rearview mirror, it shouldn’t be an issue. However, the glare reducer that’s in the vicinity directly behind the mirror (most cars have this) prevented me from placing the unit there. It’s on the passenger side as close to the mirror as possible where the glare reducing film ends.

Beyond those issues, this unit is awesome. Unlike many other units, the instruction manual is NOT in engrish and actually makes sense. All the questions I had about the unit’s features are covered in detail in the book.

If you purchase this unit, I sincerely doubt you’ll be disappointed. The strikes it has against it are relatively minor.

  273. Tim

I purchased the Rexing V1 based off of the reviews I read here, the low profile form factor and a budget limit of $100. It was important to me that the dash cam wouldnt clutter up my view out the windshield. I have had the camera installed for 2 weeks and It accomplishes just that. It is low profile and manages to stay fairly hidden under the dot matrix of the wind shield. The wide lens angle is about perfect for capturing what you see out the windshield without extreme distortion and the picture quality is really good in my opinion during playback on a monitor. A big convenience is the automation, once installed I never have to touch it or pay attention to it. It performs all functions automatically. The only time I need to mess with it is if i want to mute the mic or toggle the display on and off. But you never need to touch it to make it operate unless you want to mess with the options. All these qualities for the price made it the right match for me.

This is a great little camera. Having owned another dash cam before, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the video. And then I noticed that I’d forgotten to remove the plastic lens protector sheet. After removing that, I was suitably impressed. It snuggles right up at the top of the windshield, though I had to move it slightly to the right because of that black stippling they put on the windshields around the mirror. The microphone picks up everything pretty well. Could hear my window motor when I rolled it up/down. So far I’ve been fine with the default exposure settings, though I’ve notice it seems to amp up the contrast. A slight shadow across a wall became a rather dark blotch. I do wish the display had some sort of tilt/swivel. The display is hard to see from the side, making it difficult to see if all is lined up well and whether or not it’s recording, unless you’re in the passenger space. And, at least with mine, the microSD card slot doesn’t line up well. I pushed the card in, and it stayed in, but part way into the trip it had worked its way back out again and the camera was telling me to insert a card. It’s just slightly off, so the friction was enough to keep it in for a little while until the vibrations let it work its way back out. It’s staying in this time, but for data transfer I really prefer to take the card out and use my (significantly faster) card reader with my computer.

*FYI – Amazon downgrades video quality*** […]
For the price and customer support, I’d say this is one of the better/safer purchases you can make for a dash-cam.

    Cons:
    – My primary complaint would be video quality. Technology has improved so much that I’m not sure why better cameras aren’t being used.
    – Slight reflection of sun/windshield at certain angles. Not tooooo bad though.

    Pros:
-Even with my complaint on video quality, it is good enough for any user. I suppose now that we are in a 4K + video world my expectations are high.
    – A must have feature of any camera is battery backup. This allows safe shut down and saving of video files without corruption.
    – 3 min recordings. For me, this is a good amount of time. Other cameras do 1 min recordings, which makes finding video files a nightmare.

I would recommend this product without hesitation. I hope the company continues to keep good customer service and innovate with new cameras.

This item worked for two months. The first time that it got warm the unit would not power on. If this unit can not deal with low heat in spring in Chicago how is this going to work in warmer climates in summer?

I have reached out and asked for refund or replacement so we will see how that goes.

    11/16/17 Update:
Rexing did reach out to me and offered to send out a new one due to the issues that the original had. I have installed it and it is currently working but as with the original, the motion sensor function is no longer there and the auto power off does not work. I will be trying to update the firmware as well as some other tweaks to see if i can get those back. I will provide another update later down the road.

In all honestly, i upgraded from a 1 to a 3 due o the fact they sent out a new one.

    2/27/18
So far the item has been working fine and has survived the first winter in Chicago. The real test will be in the summer though. Raised from 3 to 4 for the time being. I will provide another update after the summer.

This unit is nice overall. The video is great and viewable on the device. I have not had a chance to take the memory card out and see how it looks on a computer so I can’t say how it looks like there or if the audio has recorded. Time lapse feature was accidentally turned on but the fast paced video was really neat. Easy to install with previous knowledge and how to run hidden wires. My fiancé loves the way it looks in my car. Will be ordering one for her car soon. Make sure you clean the area well before applying the double stick adhesive. It’s 3M so I know it will hold up in tough hot conditions. It doesn’t seem to start on its own when I get in my car and start moving but it’s easy enough to turn on. It could be faster to turn on though. Holding for three seconds can be a drag. It would be nice to have a hard wire kit come with the unit as opposed to buying one separate and hope it doesn’t kill the device. The night video could be clearer and sharper as mine is barely catching anything at all. Overall it’s a good unit and I would recommend it to family and friends as well as fellow Amazon customers. For the money it’s good.

Best money I’ve spent in a long time! I purchased this for my son for his birthday in March. Yesterday he went to the beach and someone hit his car and left the scene just leaving a note sorry I hit your car backing up and a phone number. We were able to look at the dash cam get a plate and provide the video to the police! With the footage we were able to know she hit him 3 times backing up!!

The actual video is attached. I blurred the license plate for obvious reasons, but rest assured it was clear as day through the whole video. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t recorded it myself.

Purchased this for wife’s car after putting an earlier I-Max B-40 in my car. The Rexing cost a little more than the now unavailable I-Max model, but the I-Max came with power cable adhesive clips which the Rexing lacked. The Rexing book, which is more detailed than the I-Max, mentioned a CD but that was not in my box, at least. Rexing has a bigger screen although my verdict is still out on whether the image is as bright, exposure wise, as it should be. The exposure setting is at the normal “0”. The Rexing’s buttons and menu system is more user friendly than the I-Max was and I didn’t have to prepare a cheat sheet to carry in the car in case an accident is witnessed and you want to show law enforcement, which happened with my I-Max. (I took it home, downloaded to my computer and THEN sent it to the deputy because i didnt’ trust the I-Max not to erase accidentally. Rexing also ‘shares’ power by giving you a USB ‘jack’ on its 12 volt cigarette lighter plug, for a second USB powered cellphone or whatever. Will update with more on image quality, etc. after a week or so of use.

  284. Mike

I have had this for about 9 months now, its OK, video in daytime is good, night time you can only see what your headlights illuminate. I have it connected to my cigarette lights and about 40% of the time it does not start when I start the car, if I unplug and plug it back in it will start up, but a pain to do that and I don’t always catch that it has not started.
UPDATE 8/10/2018 – Rexing Customer Service has provided another unit to replace the problem unit, I hope this fixes the startup issues. I will use it for a while and hopefully the startup issue was an isolated issue with the first unit.
UPDATE 12/5/2018 – After using the updated camera for several months now, it works much better than the previous generation unit with no problems. One issue that remains is the adhesive that is used to attach the mounting bracket to the windshield, it will not hold up long under direct sunlight and heat in the vehicle. I removed the provided adhesive (be sure to get all the old adhesive off, I used Goof-Off to remove it) and used 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape (PN 051131), the unit has been on the windshield with no further problems since September.

  285. James Mitchell

Works very well and pretty easy to setup. Wanted to give it five stars but there were a few issues that need to be worked out. However, I would definitely buy again as great value for price.

Was pleasantly surprised at how wide of an angle that it can capture. Excellent photo quality but find that it does jump frames a little inside the video so could miss a key moment of video recording.

Instruction manual is good, but a little lacking. I did the time delay and it had issues that it wouldn’t record beyond the first loop I had set. I removed the time delay and it works now recording 5 minute segments.

Charger length works well. Recommend hardwiring, very easy with little technical skill required if you can watch a U-tube video. Too bad it does not come with or have a recommend product.

Using 32gb card at 1080p and it can capture roughly two work days of driving (stop & go).

It is very discreet and was happy to see that was true per reviews. I saw reviews that it had a park mode but version of OS shipped did not include option but does have g-sensor. I only wish it stated the wattage it draws to know how taxing on the battery it would be to hardwire to a fuse with constant power so I wasn’t worried about draining the car battery dead.

I was offered a free mount to write a review but it honestly did not impact my review

  286. RogerR2

I have been using this camera for over a week and it has worked very well. It has not had heat issues, which I have found to be the problem with other cameras that I have owned. The manual was a pleasant surprise as it is comprehensive, easy to follow, and the print is large enough to read, unlike so many that come with Dash cams. I like the mounting, however, since it is attached using adhesive, once it is in place, it can not be easily moved. The picture quality is very good, however with the wide angle lens I do get some reflection around the picture edges from my dash and other areas of the windshield area that I have not experience with other more narrowly focused cameras. The mounting seems to make the camera immune to Dots Bots bounce that I have experienced with suction cup mounted cameras and that is a good thing. I have purchased many Dash cams over the years and this one I would purchase again.

  287. Bad Drivers of Napa Valley

I always have a dash cam in my car to help my case in the event of a crash. I also always have one for entertainment purposes, to capture bad drivers on video for my “Bad Drivers of Napa Valley” Youtube channel. And recently I needed to update my dash cam set up so I did some research and saw that the Rexing V1 was Amazon’s best seller along with the nearly 5 star rating. I decided to purchase this camera and get a SanDisk class 10 high speed memory card to use in the camera.

The camera arrived and it was time to unbox it and have a look. The camera was packed very well and the camera’s build seemed sturdy and light. The buttons are nice and solid and don’t rattle. The user manual is very well-written and easy to follow. It was a snap to set up in the car and the cord is nice and long for larger vehicles. I went through the camera’s menu items to program all the settings the way I wanted them. That was easy too.

I went for a drive to test it out and then came home to review the footage. Connecting it to the computer, the computer immediately recognized the camera and I opened up the folder. Soon after connecting the camera to the computer, the camera powered itself off and interrupted the file transfer. How strange. I later discovered that this is due to a camera setting. The ‘Auto Power Off’ setting was the culprit. I simply turned it off and the camera stayed on the entire time it was connected to the computer. The auto power off feature is there so that the camera will shut itself off if left on, but not recording, after whatever time you set it for.

Reviewing the footage, it looks great for a camera in its class. The image is fairly sharp, clear and in focus for the entire frame, with minimal chromatic aberration at the edges. Colors look really good but very slightly washed out in certain contrast and exposure scenarios. Still acceptable for a camera in this class. It handles contrast and exposure exceptionally. Going from deep shade under tree canopies to bright sunny open skies and vice versa, the camera does a great and quick job at adjusting exposure back and forth between vastly different lighting. It should be noted that this camera compresses the footage a lot, as do just about all dash cams in this class. So there is some compression artifacting (blocking) in scenes with low contrast or expansive shaded areas. For a camera in this class the video still looks great.

The audio is about what one would expect from a camera like this. The sound is good, but not as great as the audio on a typical consumer grade camcorder. But good enough for a dash cam.

The first few days of owning this dash cam there was no rattling sound when driving over bumps and rough pavement, but it has developed a little bit of a light rattle. This can easily be fixed by sandwiching a layer of fabric or two, between the camera body and the mount. Just be sure and cut the square out from the middle of the layer(s) to the correct size where the mounting tip inserts into the camera. One dash cam manufacturer that sells a camera with a similar shape, ships a foam pad along with the camera to remedy the inherent rattle with these types of mounts. I think Rexing and other sellers of these wedge shape cameras should do the same.

So that evening I decided to purchase another Rexing V1 for my spouse’s car, since I liked the first V1 so much. But this is where things get interesting. Naturally I expected the quality of the subsequent purchases to be on par with the first one. I was wrong.

The second camera arrived in the same well-packed fashion and I excitedly got it set up with identical settings and went for the test drive. I came back and analyzed the footage. Something seemed off. I pulled up footage from the first V1 to compare. I had driven the exact same route with the same lighting conditions as before, so I could get an accurate comparison. This second camera’s video footage was blurry in the outer 5th of the video frame, on both sides, along with more chromatic aberration. I couldn’t read license plates even when right next to them, unlike with the first V1 purchase. The lens was perfectly clean, as I was very careful not to touch it. The camera also rattled very badly from the very first use, but once again fixed with a layer of fabric between the camera and mount. The audio also had a rhythmic zapping noise about every second, which is a very common problem among budget dash cams. This issue was not present with the first V1. In both V1’s I was using the same high quality memory card, and the cameras plugged directly into the DC socket, not into a splitter.

Disappointed, I returned that one through Amazon and ordered a replacement and thought the dud was just a fluke.

The replacement came (my third V1 purchase) and this one was in better shape, but still problematic. It didn’t have that horrible zapping noise or the rattle at all, thankfully. But this time the video was blurry on the whole right 1/4th of the video frame, which is still unacceptable. I’ve never had this problem with the G1W which is half the price. (Though if your camera is crisp throughout the frame I find the V1 footage to be overall better than the G1W). So instead of returning this one through Amazon I contacted the company to let them know of the issue and see what advice they might have for me. They quickly replied, apologized and offered to exchange it for another replacement camera directly through their company. Their customer service seems great so far.

The replacement camera of the other replacement came very quickly and I tested it out. So this 4th camera I got from them passed my test with flying colors. This one has super sharp video in all parts of the frame and there are no problems with it. I love it just as much as the first one I bought from them. I only took one star off the review because of the two defective units. They get big props for their excellent, responsive and efficient customer service.

Some tips for those purchasing this camera:
Turn off gravity sensing. Numerous owners complain that their cameras shut off randomly while recording. A major culprit is said to be the gravity sensing option being turned on. I turned mine off and have had no unexpected shutdowns.
Use a good, class 10 memory card.
Download and install firmware updates from the Rexing USA website.
Try to avoid plugging this camera into a splitter for DC outlets, as this is said to sometimes cause the zapping noises in the audio I mentioned. The zapping sounds can also sometimes be caused by sub-par memory cards or possibly a defective power plug.
Try the fabric trick if your camera develops a rattle.
Clean the glass really well before sticking the 3M double sided mounting tape to it.
Try not to leave your camera in a hot car in the sun when you’re not driving, during hot summer days.
If your camera shuts off while connected to your computer, it is because the auto power off feature on your camera is enabled.

I will keep this review updated.

I’ve used this for about 3 weeks without any problems. It is small and fits behind my rearview mirror, so I can only tell when it is there when it beeps on and off as I start or turn off my CRV. I live in south Florida, and the heat in May hasn’t affected it any. The only small changes I would suggest Rexing make is to improve the instruction manual: 1) Installation instructions were basic, and some good advice for installation are found online in fan-made videos that the instruction manual referred me too. 2) Instructions on how to navigate through the device would be improved by inserting a small picture of the button next to each instruction. For example, pictures of each button and what they do are at the front of the instruction manual but instructions for using the device are at the end. I was constantly flipping back and forth to see what button I was being referred to.

Needed a camera after getting into an accident and was partially blamed despite having right of way with no signs and driver having a stop sign. I purchased two different kinds, this one and a cheaper one for my father.

    Positives:
    > Very good quality recording, can see things very clearly.
    > Lightweight, feels like 6 oz or so compared to other ones.
    > Plug and play recording, easy and simple with no hassle.
    > Navigation is simple enough, no real struggles in using it.
    > Long charging wire gives it room to be put around in your car.

    Negatives / Semi negatives:
    > Adhesive mounting; great because you don’t have to move it once you get it into a nice position | bad because you need to purchase another one if you have another car
    > Night vision; I haven’t tested this product at night since I haven’t had any reason to drive at night yet but I noticed there is no night vision setting which was really disappointing. The one I purchased for $30 had it, so given that this one was $100, I was expecting to see that feature.
    > Large file recording which isn’t that big of a negative, just that investing in a high capacity micro SD is essential for this.
    > I do not know if this is just mines or a common thing with this but the recording button seems to be a lot lower than the rest of the buttons. I’m hoping that this is normal and won’t cause me problems later in the future.

Overall this is definitely a camera worth investing in no matter who you are. It’s lightweight and has a very good quality recording that will definitely show any accidents very clearly. My only main complaint is the adhesive mount, I wish there was a suction mount as I would much rather prefer that instead. I will update if any problems occur with it but so far I am happy with my purchase.

So far the first model I received was a dud and crapped out after an hour. I emailed Rexing customer service and they replied within 24 hours that they would send a replacement unit and a return label for the defective unit. They have a no hassle return policy for 60 days. I purchased the additional 2 year replacement plan from Amazon for $8, which I recommend with a device such as this.

With the new unit working great, I have captured some interesting footage already. A friend ran the DC cable from the headliner down the pillar and over to the console to eliminate any hanging wires. The unit’s battery lasts only a few minutes as a soft shut down or to continue recording while you gas up, etc.

I had to turn off the motion sensor and parking monitor because any little jiggle would set it off and it is difficult to get a consistent video.

I hope it lasts a while as I really enjoy it!

This looks like a great product and the reviews are very good. But, as soon as I was attempting to mount it to my windshield I realized i couldn’t view the screen because of the viewing angle. You have to pretty much view it straight on or it’s a blank screen. It’s not possible to see any setup info or features without removing it from the mount. It might be different on other vehicles. I was attempting to mount it in a 2006 Chrysler T&C. Amazon gladly accepted the return. Great service, disappointing product.
Updated DEC. 12/2018 – Rexing customer service was kind enough to replace the V1 and after close to a year I am very pleased with the new camera. I have purchased a new car since the last review and it mounts much better. The unit is very small and the quality is great. Excellent daytime video, the nighttime is acceptable. It did take me some time to get used to it but that’s me. So far I love this camera and you can’t say enough about the customer service.

I’ve had this camera for about 3 weeks and so far its real good. This is the 4th dash cam I’ve had and the first 3 all had problems of some sort, but this one has passed all the tests.

Most importantly, it seems to work even while hot from having the car parked in the sun. I’ve only been able to test it once in that condition (and it was by accident), but it started right up when I started the car. There are heat slots all over the case of this cam. Elsewhere at Amazon is another camera that looks very similar to this one and is half the price, but if you look closely, it doesn’t have the heat slots and would probably be a problem based my experience with dash cams.

The ability of the lens to swivel in such a wide arch is nice, too. It means I can use the cam in both my pickup, which has a more vertical windshield, and my car which has a more sloped windshield.

The mount is also good. The camera attaches firmly, but can be removed easily. However, I wish they included an extra mount or sold one separately.

The charging cord was more than long enough to allow me to mount the cam behind my rearview mirror, route it around the windshield, down to the door, and in under the dash to the nearest 12v plug in, and have a couple feet to spare. And, this was in a full size pickup. Also, the cord had a 90 degree plug in at the camera point. BTW, the plug in for this camera is not your typical micro-usb, it is the older mini-usb, which to me, is better, since the mini-usb connector is much stronger and will last a lot longer.

The large screen on the back of the camera is real good, but is also my only negative comment — its difficult to see when the camera is attached to the windshield because of the angle. But this is a minor complaint compared to the overall good points of the cam.

If there is no updates to this review after a couple months, then I’m satisfied. Otherwise, if something negative happens, you’ll see an edit.

Its been several months now and the camera has been good enough that I bought a second one for the other car.

Easy to mount, easy to set up and easy to operate. It’s so easy I ordered a second one for my other vehicle. The supplied power cord is plenty long enough to hide and still reach the lighter socket. I have an F-150 and ran the cord under the headliner, down the corner post, under the dash and to the lighter and had plenty of cord left over, in fact had to bundle the excess with a tie wrap to keep it hid under the dash.Comes with an extra usb cord so you can plug it up and operate the camera in your lap. Very useful for entering your settings and viewing videos. I will likely hard wire the camera for my car when it arrives.

I am very pleased with my purchase of the Rexing dash camera. I am charging it now and plan to mount it tomorrow afternoon. Its a perfect size, seems easy to operate and program. I really like the looks of it and the LED quality is very good. The controls are easy – it comes with a User Manual. It appears very easy.

I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1) I have not actually recorded with it yet; and 2) Summers in Oklahoma are extremely hot. I’ve tried mounting things to my windshield with the double-sided mounting as is supplied with the dash cam. I do NOT expect it hold on days upwards of 100 degrees as nothing ever has, even with much larger mounting “tape”. I will most likely have to invent something better to hold it to the windshield. Other than that – I am very pleased and would recommend it to anyone needing a dash camera. Once I have actually used this for a few days, I will add to this reference. I’m expecting it to work fully to my satisfaction.

UPDATE 5/9/2017: I am updating my rating. So this is long overdue. The company resolved the issue by sending me a new camera free of charge. The new one worked and continues to work great. As a matter of fact I was the victim of a hit and run on January 27th of this year. The driver was underage and DUI. He also hit 3 other vehicles including the personal vehicles of 2 police officers. Today the video from the dash cam, although dark because it was late, was used to convict him on numerous charges. Without it I don’t think it would have been as easy since the defense tried to argue that no one actually saw the person driving the car. Thank you Rexing for the help.

Now if only they had a solution for my new vehicle so I can monitor front, back and sides 24/7 it would be even better.

UPDATE 8/3/2016: I recently was checking my dash cam for some vandalism/tampering that has been going on on our street. I intentionally park so that I can see the cars in front and the intersection. Anyways, in doing so I noticed that the images from the camera seemed hazy. At first I thought it was a finger print from taking it out of the window or maybe something on the windshield itself. I cleaned the round lense on the camera with a microfiber glasses cloth and then washed the windshield with windex and then also wiped it with the microfiber in front of the camera. Here we are a few weeks later and I checked a few times and the images are all hazy. I just pulled it out of the car a few minutes ago and then same thing. This actually the second I received. The first one was broken out of the box and they were very responsive and promptly sent me out a new one with a return tag. We will see if they will be able to exchange or replace it. I cant say I would highly recommend it at this point. Even at $99, it doesn’t make it worth it if your images are randomly hazy. I wouldn’t have even noticed until I needed it, if it wasn’t for the kids messing with cars lately. I will update as the situation moves forward.

I was recently involved in an accident while towing my companies commercial. It was not my fault but the person who hit the trailer tried to say it was my fault. Thankfully the only witnesses were police and fire personnel already responding to an accident in progress. With that, my insurance and the police recommended I install a dash cam. They said that if I had been involved in a rear end accident it could serve as evidence against the other driver if the accident occurred due to their negligence. So, I did some research and decided on this one.

Besides having features I was looking for, including motion sensing, time stamping, auto on/off, higher quality images and others, it was the most rated on Amazon. I received the camera the next day in the evening. Right out of the box I noticed it is compact with easy to use buttons. Once I read through the instruction booklet it was time to get started. I plugged it in and it came on automatically. A word to the wise, if you plug it into you computer to start charging you will not be able to access the menus. It will only give you options to use it as a camera for the comp or storage. If you plug it in and turn it off you an later unplug it and program it all you want.

I wanted a 64GB card for storage. I purchased the one recommended. It will say that it does not read the card when you first insert it. To solve this just format the card in the camera. Once this is done I went online and downloaded the free firmware update with a few additional features. Follow the instructions on their website and its easy. Just remember to format the card again in the camera after you upload the new firmware or it will always try to reload the firmware and will cause you to have to reset you settings every time. Once the update is done then you can set the time and settings and you are good to go.

The one problem I did have was that the power button didn’t seem to turn the unit on or off. After reading the booklet and thinking I was nuts I realized that the power button was the only one that didn’t have resistance and didn’t make the *click* sound the others did. Even though it was Friday evening I messaged Rexing. To my surprise I received a response on Sunday Afternoon from them apologizing for the issue. They also asked for my order info so they could send me a new one right away. I also noted that in a number of reviews there was a common complaint of the sticky pad they provide giving way in extremes, cold or hot. I asked them about getting some extra and they said no problem. If the sticy pad ever fails let them know and they will send me more. I received the new one yesterday. I did the same thing I did before and got it all ready to go. Although I didn’t take the time to set it up in my vehicle, I can say from the “trials” inside the house the video images seem to be clear and have a high quality and resolution. I will post an update in a few weeks once I have had the opportunity use the camera in my vehicle and real get a feeling for its features and quality.

P.S. The second one I received was slightly different than the one I received first. I liked the first one better because it was matte black with all black buttons. The second one is glossy black and the OK button is bright orange. Both are fine for me and I don’t think it is that important to request they replace it again with the same one, but from their own comments on other sites they will replace it. Apparently there are just 2 different styles. Same features and everything else.

I chose this particular dash cam due to the popularity and price point (under $100). My needs were simple: reliability, good video quality, hassle free mounting and operation, and stealthy. What drew me to this model was the adhesive mount, as a suction cup is not a good fit in the spot I wanted to mount it (behind the rear view mirror due to the black sunscreen windshield dots). So far, I am pleased. Installation took about 30 minutes which included running the wires inside the door pillar molding. Operation is hassle free, as it is always on when the car is on, and shuts off when off. Video quality seems on par with others. I haven’t yet had it during the Texas summer heat, so time will tell if the adhesive and operation hold up. The adhesive it came with is the heavy duty 3M, which is tops in it’s class. Some things that were overlooked, or could be improved are as follows:
    1) 12v Power cable adapter has a blue light that is on when power is on. This is redundant since the unit itself chirps to let you know it is on, and also has a red light on it. This blue light will cause your vehicle battery to drain if you have a vehicle that has a hot (always on) 12v cigarette lighter. Luckily, mine doesn’t, so it works for me. I just put a piece of black electrical tape over it as it is annoying at night. Not a good design.
    2) Micro SD slot is recessed too much. Need a paperclip or thin object to insert SD card all the way.
    3) If you have multiple vehicles, and plan to use this device in each one, you’d be better off getting a portable unit – one that attaches via suction cups, or plan to buy two adhesive mounts. Just be aware that this unit is meant for a more permanent attachment. However, it is easily removed for hiding.
    4) A few self adhesive black wire clips would have been nice to have been included to help with wire routing.

Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and have recommended it to others. Be sure to update the firmware to take advantage of the newer features.

I have purchased two different Dash Cams, the Rexing V1 2.4″ and another brand. After using both for several days, I discarded the other brand for the Rexing and like so much, have since purchased a second Rexing Dash Cam.
    – First, the design is superior. With a low profile, most people get in my vehicles and do not realize a Dash Cam is attached to my windshield. From the outside, it is almost impossible to spot if placed on the windshield behind the rearview mirror.
    – Second, the quality of the video is superior, easy to download, and works with several types of video software that might be loaded on a computer.
    – Third, the provided power cable is extra long, allowing me to hide the cable so that it does not interfere with passengers or become a distraction.
    – Last, it can handle up to a 32 gb card, so it contains hours of video. Have used when on a trip to download the scenery of a drive.
    I will purchase again!

The set it and forget it dashcam. The instruction was clear and easy to use. Compare with other dashcams, this is a bit pricey. A lot of dashcams are cheaper and might be better. This is an old product, but with an old price tag that doesn’t drop. I believed it’s do to the reviews.

It works great. The adhesive sticks on the windshield very well and doesn’t looks like it can be remove. It would be nice if they have another adhesive hook base so I can put it on a different car if I want to switch car. In my situation, I was borrowing a car during the time I bought this. I only want to use that car temporary until I bought a new car. The negative about using adhesive is that it will stick forever until you completely remove using a commercial product or your own homemade. Whatever the case, it will take time and you need a new adhesive if you want to reapply it again. I just got a new car so I will buy a different cam. I don’t have it yet so I can’t do any comparison to suggest if it’s better. One thing for sure, it’s cheaper and comes with 32gb memory.

Formatting on this dashcam sucks. Even if your card is already format by default, This cam stills required for it to format for particular setting. 32GB micro SD card only. Don’t expect 64GB card to work on this thing. It’s too picky. It knows you’re using a 64GB card but refused to work. FAT32 format SD card will work but may lead to issue later on for 64GB card. 32GB only record around 5 hours for full HD and not ideal for long trip. 64GB better. Then you don’t have to worry about part of your trip was rewritten by the latest ones.

I like the product, but I’m not fully satisfied. If you’re only driving in town and only want to use it in one car then this should do nicely. Still, you have to buy a memory. Comparing this product with it competitors today, it’s on the pricey end. I would suggest you look around first before buying this if the negatives bother you.

I’ve only used it about a week so far, but it’s been working as it should.

The screen will do what it needs to, and not much more. It’s viewing angle is terrible. I’d guess the optimal viewing area is literally about 10° both horizontally, and vertically. Mine is mounted behind the left side of the rear-view mirror, andI had to lean into the middle of my truck, then duck down low to see the image it displayed when setting the unit up, from the drivers seat. This really doesn’t matter much to me, because since I only needed to look at it when I first installed it. Now, the screen is nothing more than a visual confirmation the unit booted up properly (my mirror covers half the screen anyway).
I do like that the display shuts off quickly after boot up so it’s not an annoyance. The build quality feels cheap, it is very light, and the plastic flexes a bit when handled w/ man-hands.

The operating system of the camera/DVR is very basic. If you ever had a old-school “dumb” cell phone, you’ll be able to use the buttons to make adjustments in the simple scroll menus without too much fuss.

The video it shoots is pretty decent good clarity and brightness, but colors are a little bit washed. I did notice it will produce an odd distortion in images with complex objects in high contrast, like bare tree limbs against a bright cloudy sky. When this happened there was a weird digital-noise effect around the branches that looks a bit strange, kind of like they’re glowing. But since this camera is meant to be used as an insurance, not a cinematography tool, it is just a minor gripe.

Considering an older, inactive smartphone can do the same job (granted, with a smaller viewing angle), and could also have been purchased for around the same price (with the bonus of having a much better screen and all the added functionality of a smartphone), the value of this dedicated dash camera isn’t the greatest in my opinion.

Bottom line is, if you don’t have, or want to use a smartphone, and have the hundred bucks to spend on a dedicated dash-cam that has a nice wide viewing angle and mounts discreetly and can just be left alone after setup, this camera is for you.
Others may prefer to use a dash-cam app for the smartphone(s) that they may already own (or can buy on the cheap), plus a good window-mount cellphone holder.

Still works as it should. Power button broke and is stuck inside the unit. Company contacted me about mediocre review and asked if they sent me a replacement, would I give a better review. They held up their end of the deal, as a brand new unit w/ all the original accessories was promptly delivered.
Added an additional star, for the excellent service from the seller.

I’ve wanted a dashcam for some time, ever since a buddy had a guy back into him at a red light. My friend had a lot of trouble proving his innocents since it looked like he rear ended the other driver. In the end, he only received a partial settlement. Then last month, another friend was dropping his daughter off at school when the minivan in front of him backed up a full car length and hit him while in line. Well, he had a dashcam, so he no issues proving who was guilty. My wife tends to get bumped a lot too, so I decided it was time to buy one.

I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this model. It seemed to be the best option for the price.

Installation was a breeze. I used a SimpleUSB Automotive 12V to USB Adapter ( SimpleUSB Automotive 12V to USB Adapter & Micro USB cable combo ) to get power from my mirror. I selected where I wanted the camera and carefully mounted it with the double sided sticky tape.

I do have a weird issue with the time. My unit doesn’t receive power after the ignition is cut. I set it to auto turn off shortly after and it does. When it turns on, it jumps the time 2 hours forward, every time. I ended up purchasing the GPS add-on ( Rexing GPS Logger for Rexing V1 ) and now the time syncs from it, but until the GPS connects, the time is incorrect at start up. Though a minor issue, it was annoying and required the purchase of additional equipment, therefore I’ve removed one star from my review.

The LCD is a little hard to see due to the angle it sits on my windshield. I have to duck my head down to get a direct angle view, but this is also a minor issue and probably due to the saying, “you get what you pay for.” I was looking for something in the $100 range, so I’m not expecting a top of the line display.

Even though the unit doesn’t feel like it is mounted securely when mounting it, it doesn’t move and requires a little more pressure to dismount, so I’m confident it is mounted well.

I bought this camera after being rear ended in Atlanta where the drivers are easily distracted with their phones. I needed something low profile and HD that would capture events. I had the unit for a few days before I took the car to the body shop but for those few days it seemed to function as required.

I had installed a 32gb card and set it to 5 min loops with motion sensors and g sensors on. The only thing I cannot figure out is sometimes it would record 20 second clips. This might be needing to be more familiar with the unit.

Once the car comes back I’ll be hard wiring it to my car’s lighting system so constant power is there to capture any hit and runs in the parking lots. If all goes well I’ll probably pick one up for the rear and run it through the headliner.

The sole purpose of me getting a dash cam was for my own safety, just in case. I live in Austin and just like any metropolitan city we have a lot of traffic. Not just traffic but the people in the traffic. We have a lot of aggressive drivers here, and I was one of them. This is not only a helpful tool if you get in a crash but also a mindset change. Actually owning the dash cam and knowing it’s always recording makes me be more cautious while driving, because it can easily be used against me in the case that I need to use it. Not to mention it’s so handy, you can set it to turn on as soon as the car is on and start recording, and power down as soon as the car is turned off. You can set it to loop record and it will automatically record over old loops so there is really nothing you need to do besides install it. I definitely recommend this to anyone.

The camera works great and looks great. It is quite smaller and harder to spot than other bulky dash cams, but it is still visible – no doubt about it. Don’t think people won’t be able to see it – so don’t leave it in the car if in a shady neighborhood or nighttime. Also, the camera does NOT turn off by itself when you turn off your engine. You have to unplug it EACH AND EVERY TIME which is a HUGE hassle. Also, the sticker that sticks the holder to the window MELTS OFF. I left my camera in the car in the sun for a few hours because I thought it would be fine. The camera was fine, however the sticker/glue melted off and the whole thing fell off. I was able to stick it back on, but if left on for a long time, I find it falling off again. Although the camera itself is great, these two points really make me dread the product because it’s an everyday issue…Also it turns off by itself occasionally – whaaaaat?

UPDATE: The company sent a replacement, the sticker works and camera turns off now when I turn my engine off (after a minute), but we’ll see if the sticker melts off again or not.

A fantastic product. Saved me from a civil suit last week when some **** ran a redlight and tried to blame it on me. The V1 dashcam functioned as advertised and I am physically fine and mentally stress free. I highly recommend this product

Other than not being able to put in my complete license plate number, everything works well. The image quality seems quite good and the way it works with the car and movement is just as advertised.

Fairly happy with this unit. Video quality is acceptable – nothing that will blow you away, but it gets the job done. It is smooth and records properly with 32gb class 10 card. I really like the mounting scheme a lot. Easy to adjust to get the angle you want. Menu system is fairly easy to navigate, although a tad confusing in that after you select something in the menu you don’t have to press OK. It will just stay with what you last selected when you backup through the menus. I do wish it recorded in MP4 instead of the Quick Time Movie format. The internal battery is very weak, so if the unit is not connected to either your computer or cigarette lighter it will die very quickly. Unit is very light weight and has a cheap plasticy feel. A little pricy at $100. My last dash cam lasted a year and a half, hope this one lasts longer. I’m almost certain the cold weather got my last one. These dash cams seem to be able to handle heat more so than cold. Anything below 30 degrees and above 90 degrees, I will be removing the camera from the car to hopefully prolong its life.

For the most part I liked it. The video is very clear in the daylight. I have not tested it at night as yet. The size is small and will fit behind my rear view mirror nicely and by using the provided sticky tape mount it keeps it at a low profile unlike the ones with the suction cups that stick way out in your field of view. The instructions were pretty clear and I had no trouble understanding them. The down side is the power cable is all one unit. I would prefer one with a usb port to plug into the cigarette adapter so I would have the option to plug it into an auxiliary usb in my vehicle. Also the battery is not very good and takes quite awhile to charge the first time and still does not get all of the bars to show a full charge. I ordered two of these units and they both react the same way. One of my GM vehicles has power on all the time so the auxiliary port will stay on even with the engine off. My other newer GM vehicle came with the ports wired to be hot only with the key on. I actually prefer it hot all the time so I can choose to leave the cam on when I leave the vehicle for a few hours at a time so I changed the fuse position on the new vehicle to be hot all the time. I had to buy two auxiliary adapters with an on/off switch so I do not have to keep plugging and unplugging the adapter. The dash cam adapter simply plugs into the switched adapter so I have control of the power. It would be nice to have an on /off switch on the stock dash cam power adapter so you could have better control if you have a vehicle with the auxiliaries hot all the time. I would have given it 5 stars if the power cord system was more flexible for different type vehicles.

So glad I had this guy the other day! See picture below. You’ll never know when something potentially life changing could happen. This picture is off my computer screen taken with an iPhone. The video is actually much better as you can make out the plate. I’d suggest hardwiring a USB port to turn on and off with the car so it’s a set and forget it type device until you need it.

  315. Russell H*

Did a bit of research on these and it seemed like 50 dollars wasn’t enough and I wasn’t going to spend 300. So after looking around and seeing that this was the only one that seemed to have legitimate reviews I went ahead and ordered it. Got it a couple days later and installed it with a Class10 Memory card. Video Quality is good, not great, just good. I can read license plates if their directly ahead or just off to the side, but not if they’re more than 10 or 20 feet away. Audio quality is almost too good. You can hear people breathing if the radio isn’t on. The instructions seem better than your average made in china generic product. It came with a wire that was plenty long enough to reach my switched lighter even after running it along the headboard and down the a-frame and across the back of the glove box. I wish there were a way to buy extra mounts and chargers so I could use it in my other car. But I imagine they want you to just buy two of them. And I might, if this one lasts more than a year without caching on fire, blowing up, or melting. We’ll see how it goes. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

I have it for a week and still learning. Upgraded the software with simple instructions from the website before using it (most electronics have software upgrades since being manufactured). Make sure you use proper download and install procedures. Be careful when loading & unloading the MICRO SD card (it is spring loaded) and can pop out so keep your finger on it once you learn this function). I have been using Time lapse (10 minutes) and the sequence is date & time stamped.I view it on my laptop in order to observe (I suggest that you turn off Audio because it can be annoying) while viewing. The clarity of the picture is better than I expected, Take your time adhering the tape mount tto the windshield as the camera view is a wide angle. I have yet to view the night vision but I expect no less. I highly recommend this unit.

Did a lot of looking around. This one is small and has all the features I want, plus some. Got this dash cam yesterday, updated the firmware to the latest, then did the setup before installing in the car. It was very easy to put up. I routed the cable around the top and to the left pillar, then under the dash to plug into the 12V DC outlet, which is turned on and off with the ignition. I was a little concern that I may have to get a Y adapter for the plug, since I have an adapter for the phone as well. I stumbled over a little pleasant surprise on the power plug of the unit, it actually has a USB socket at the top covered by a sliding cap. I am now using that to charge my phone also.
Customer service is fantastic. I emailed them for a question, and I got an answer in less than an hour. Thanks.
Will definitely pick up another one for my other car.

Update 7/8/2016: After having the first one for several months. I bought another one to put on my other car.
Update 5/6/2017: The two I bought earlier are still doing well. Just bought another car. So, purchased another one to put in this new car.

I got this for my wife (one of her Christmas presents). I read the manual yesterday and changed the settings appropriately (I think). One was audio. My wife is prone to road rage since she travels to NYC a lot and NJ & NYC drivers are a challenge. She’s been cut off, tailgated, and harassed many times, so turning the audio off seems appropriate (I think you will understand).

Anyway, I just installed it on her 2011 Kia Optima. It went smoothly except when I got to the side of the windshield. There was a gap at the top to hide the cord in, but no gap on the side. So, I opened the passenger door and forced the cord into the weather stripping there and then through the glove box. You can see the cord at the top of the passenger door (damn it). I also noticed that the battery light keeps flashing, but I assume that means it’s charging.

I’ll do another review after she uses it for a while and I can view the videos on my notebook computer. That little screen on the cam is much too small for me. I may need to adjust some settings.

I’ve had no issues with heat, or cold, or durability of the product. Be aware of the location that you mount the camera, to make sure the windshield wipers will clear the area in front of the lens, otherwise you’ll get nothing but colorful raindrops on video. I have a Honda Civic, the wipers move in opposite directions from the center toward the edges, leaving a large uncleared area a the top of the windshield right in front of the rearview mirror where I mounted my camera. Didn’t have any issues until it rained. The mounting tape is VERY strong, I had to carefully pry the base off the window with a knife and replace the adhesive strip with another piece of double-sided 3M tape.

Operation is very easy, other reviewers have already gone over it in detail so I won’t bother with that.

My impression is that this is a very high quality dash cam. I had to have a 170 degree viewing area. Most other 170 degree dash cams cost at least twice as much as the Rexing V1.
I like that it mounts out of the way, high up on the windshield and without a suction cup. My thought is that many suction cups don’t hold air after a while. Most other dash cams mount low, next to the dashboard, I would think obstructing the view and being in the way.
Customer support for the Rexing V1 is fantastic.

Customer service from this company has been nothing short of exceptional. There must have been some problems with the first unit that I received. The Rexing representative has been very proactive in replacing the unit and with advice to solve the issue that the double faced tape that is supplied with the unit to attach the camera mounting bracket to the windshield will release in hot climates as here in Central Florida.
This camera does produce a very wide angle high definition video that is very good with optional sound and saves it to a micro SD card. The manual is simple to follow and the camera is easy to set up and adjust the settings for your use. I do not have the installation completed on my car but I hope to have all cables and the camera fully installed as soon as I can find a source of high temperature double sided tape. I’ll most likely will have to order it from Amazon. It is a shame that it is not supplied with the camera kit; but it is probably not needed in most cooler areas of the country.

IMO, the quality of this product is great! I have installed it to my wife’s Porsche Cayenne. I don’t quite like the motion detection because it always stops the recording when our car stops at traffic lights where most of the accidents happen at the traffic lights anyway. I just turned off the motion detection on the device.

Easy to install, works well. Had some difficulty getting it to go to standby mode so I could configure it; I would stop recording, but as soon as I pushed the menu button, instead of bringing up the menu it would start recording again. I finally got past that by unplugging it, entering the menu before the internal battery shut it off, then plug it back in once the menu was displayed. After that I could configure it just fine.

Also, one feature I wasn’t expecting has a flaw: You can program it with your license plate number, which is stamped in the video along with the date/time. Cool! Problem is, it only allows six letters/digits for the plate number. There are a LOT of license plates out there with seven characters, and I’ve even seen some with eight.

Love the wedge shape. I can’t see it behind the mirror while driving. Lady ran a red light today as I went into a panic skid. Things happened really fast, and are closer than they appear on video. If we had collided, there were two witnesses, “IF” they stopped. If not, it would have been my word against hers without the camera.
